We have a 10 month old mini Bernedoodle and outside of maybe 3 accidents in the house towards the beginning she’s peed and pooped in basically the same area of the backyard around the corner of the house. A couple of days ago she suddenly started refusing to come off the driveway into the backyard and if I got her to move a few steps then she seemed super scared and nervous.
Yesterday I basically carried her out there and when we started walking around I found the remains of a dead animal, maybe a rabbit or a possum pretty much entirely eaten. So now I’m thinking something killed this animal (maybe a fox or coyote?) and she can smell the scent of that and associates backyard = scary predator. At least that’s my best guess.
is that a pretty solid theory for what she’s scared of all of a sudden? How can I get her over this and start using the backyard again?
