  • My teenage dog pees and poos inside constantly

Hi guys, I'm sitting here, trying to wrap my head around what to do. My teenage dog (from october '24) keeps peeing and pooping inside. She will pee and poo outside on our walks (I walk her at 6, 12/14, 19/20 and sometimes at 21/22). She pees and poos during EVERY walk. I've tried containing her, but then she will sneak out of the bedroom (if I go to the bathroom) and she will pee and poo.

I have tried a steady routine, only certain food, food schedules, walking schedules, anything I can think of, and now I'm like "uhh, what to do?"

So, any advice? We have tried crate training her, as I've showed in an old post, long ago lol, and uh… yeah, she doesn't like it (she will bite the sides of the crate and try to escape, while crying and howling).

  • Megathread: Pet Insurance

Which pet insurance is best for you? Are there any that may cover your dog's current treatment? Did your dog get injured during the waiting period and want to know if you're covered?

    Here's the place to ask.

Do know we cannot help you here with medical concerns, and lying or not disclosing things to the insurance company is illegal so we don't allow that either.

  • What should I look for when buying a dog life jacket? Any specific recommendations?

I have an overweight labrador retriever, and have been trying to get her to exercise more for her health but walking seems to be hard on her joints and I think swimming might be a more enjoyable activity for her since it'll be warm enough soon. However, I am concerned about her getting tired because she likes to stop and take breaks often on walks; a flotation vest seems like it might be a good idea so she can maybe rest some while in the water.

I am willing to spend whatever it costs to have the best quality and keep her safe. Are there certain features or shapes/styles that work better than others? Anything to avoid? A lot look like they're made of pretty thin material, barely different than a regular harness, and I'm not sure they'd support her because she's heavy. but maybe they could.

She was 85lbs at her last vet appointment, is visibly chubby, ~35" around the largest part of her chest, typically wears XL or 2XL size gear.

  • Is my dog experiencing seperation anxiety?

We rescued our pup about 7 months ago. He is a cattle dog mix who is about 1.5 years old. I work from home and my partner is home full time every two weeks, so the little one is use to having someone around.

From the start we practiced leaving him for small increments and slowly increasing to a couple hours of alone time in the house. I found he was less anxious when left out of a crate (with limited access throughout the house) and has not had any accidents or shown destructive behavior when left out alone.

My concern is-we have puppy cams for when we leave- that he goes throughout the house every 10-20 minutes to check and see if anyone is home yet. He only starts to pant a little bit once we hit the couple hours mark of being home alone. Is this separation anxiety or am I overreacting?

I also try to leave a puzzle toy for him and the tv on for background noise.

  • Need to move a mentally unstable Dog out of our colony.

A dog is creating a nuisance in front of my house. can't really do anything except see that dog chase after everyone. Barks all the time.

What can I do from my end to move him out. is there any process to take action without me coming in front?

people here don't seem to get bothered by that. I am living on rent here.

    Edit – Lucknow, Aliganj area.

  • Pit rescue training issues

Hello, I got my pitbull about 6 months ago and she’s amazing and I love her but she’s been extremely difficult to train. I am a first time dog owner so not gonna say I know what I’m doing but everything I’ve tried has failed so far. These are the biggest things that are really annoying.

-Bathroom in the house when she’s ignored, she’s potty trained and knows to go outside but if you ignore her for too long she gets anxious and will just go on the floor.

-bathroom at night, during the day she goes potty just fine and will walk with the leash, at night all she will do is walk a little bit and either start slowly sniffing and won’t move or will just stare at something and the distance and won’t move, everytime I try and pull the leash a little to get her to go she will just look at me for a sec and go back to either sniffing or staring. This turns every bathroom trip into a 15-20 minute thing when it’s dark.

-Leash pulling- she pulls the leash so hard on walks, it gets better on a no pull harness but still not a fun walk for me. Every time we start walking she will just sprint out as far and she can and get snapped back by the leash rinse and repeat. Don’t even get me started on when there’s a squirrel. I’ve tried the stop an wait for her to give the leash slack but she will quite literally stand there staring out with the leash fully extended not moving until I move, I waited 5 minutes one time and she didn’t move. I don’t get it.

-company over- every time I have company over she can’t stand being ignored. She gets 10x more obnoxious and will just harass the guest by jumping all over them and when they sit on the couch she just love attacks them, and it goes on all night and doesn’t stop.

-sprinting around, at night she will get random bursts of energy and will sprint as hard as she can and jump on furniture, harass the cat, scratch the floor etc.

-large objects- she was a rescue so we were told beforehand she had bad anxiety from her last situation. We are never mean to her and she knows that but every time I grab some time of large object for example a chair or a table she will follow me and bark at the object and get in my way and then when I start walking she gets all scared and acts like I’m gonna hit her. I get her being scared but I don’t get why she follows me around every time I grab something.

    – attention- she’s the neediest dog ever, anytime I go to my room she follows, everywhere all day. I get pits are needy but is there anyway I can have a little time to myself without her needing to be on top of me 😂

-food- this is the worst. Every time there’s food out she will do whatever it takes to be a close as possible. I ignore her everytime and never give her scraps but this doesn’t stop her. She will keep trying to get in no matter what.

Overall she is amazing though, the sweetest dog I’ve ever met. I just want to get these things sorted out because it’s so stressful having to complete revolve my life around her, which I get I signed up for but I just want a little more balance 😂
