We just got our oldest (1 1/2 yrs) mini dachshund neutered about a week ago and ever since we got him neutered he hasn’t stopped wanting to hump our youngest mini dachshund(male) who hates it and causes them to fight. He has had a problem before with trying to hump the youngest one but normally the desire would go away after an hour or two so we would just separate them until then. But it’s been almost 4 days and it’s a constant desire for him. If the youngest isn’t in the same room as him he will whine and whine. If the youngest goes out the doggie door he’s gotta follow him to try to hump him. It’s non stop all the time. If we put the oldest in a kennel without the youngest he freaks out. We’ve tried keeping them separated for a full day, tried distracting him with puzzle toys, taken him on long walks that wears him out. Is this because of him being neutered? What can we do? I’ve tried everything I can think of. It’s draining to keep them separated all the time and when they are separated it’s constant whining and begging.
EDIT: I understand that the humping won’t completely go away it’s just driving me nuts that it is all the time and it’s upsetting my youngest dog. It’s seems like it’s all he can think about.
