Hi all! Looking for advice, hoping this is an OK place to post??
My husband’s breed of choice is a border collie. He had one growing up and one of his own as an adult. Both (based on what he’s described) have been extremely atypical of the breed. Moderate energy, NO display of herding behaviors, fabulous dogs with very minimal training. I’ve told him they were unicorns, but he’s convinced it’s just the breed and desperately wants another.
I am a dog lover, but the last breed I would ever want is a border collie. Every single one I’ve met has been neurotic, loud, mouthy & extremely reactive to other dogs. I’ve voiced my concerns to him extensively, but he simply won’t hear it. We live in the city. We both work full time. We have a senior dog, 2 young children, and multiple small animals (cats, birds, rabbits). Please, for the love of all things holy help me explain to him why a BC will not fit our lifestyle. Signed sincerely,
An extremely desperate and already overwhelmed wife
