What else to teach 4mo pup?

Hi everyone. We have had our 4mo puppy for 2 months now.

He knows sit, stay, down, wait and place.

We are aggressively working on “place” recently, in public, and at home to refrain from being at our feet and how to settle and ignore distractions.

Any tips on these to create a good dog? He’s still so chaotic 24/7, but he’s a good puppy and doesn’t have accidents and doesn’t usually chew stuff up unless really excited/or tired.

We really want him to be neutral and he seems to be VERY excited on a leash. He’s so good at loose leash walking but if we walk by a person, car, dog he just pulls towards them.

We continue walking and ignore as I’ve learned that sitting down and waiting creates more of a barrier frustration.

Am I doing that right? Continuing walking? I do not let people pet him when out and about or on a leash as he doesn’t listen and sit quietly usually (he gets too excited) so I’m trying to get him to sit, settle and just watch and ignore. Lately he’s done really well with just sitting ignoring and looking at me when they pass, which is when I reward with a treat.

He’s a good puppy but I still feel very behind with training. Any tips on any of this or how to create a good listening dog who ignores distractions?? 😅
