High Energy Puppy Advice

Hello, we just adopted a 4.5 month old Pitbull puppy a few days ago, from the shelter and need some help and guidance with strategies to limit teething on our limbs, leash pulling, and whining in her play pen.

We try to limit the teething by distraction with a toy and it works for a second. Yelping makes her bite harder. She likes to teeth hard on our arms and ankles. She also attacks our shoes and feet as soon as she’s on the ground and it’s hard to get her to stop. We usually have to pick her up and then she’s a sweet girl again giving us kisses but she doesn’t seem to be learning to stop. We also remove ourselves from her play pen if we can’t get her to stop bitting and teething us. I’m not sure the best way to correct her.

Also, our 8 year old male pitbull is still warming up to her and likes to bark at her while we are trying to train her. He won’t leave her alone and gets jealous of all her new toys. When she tries to play with him she will bite his tail etc and he doesn’t like that and barks at her and will flip her on her side. Not sure if he’s just trying to correct her or not. I think a lot of this is due to being in a shelter and not playing with litter mates long enough.

Shes very rambunctious so to give them space we put her in her play pen when we aren’t training, going potty, walking, or trying to get stuff done. I feel bad how often she’s in there but it feels like there’s no other choice. Is that okay to do?

There’s a lot going on, and it’s been a big adjustment in such a short time, so I’m hoping someone has advice on what worked the best for a hyper puppy with an adult dog in the house.

Thanks!
