  • How to phase out 1 up 2 down?

Our golden retriever puppy is around 18 weeks old. For the most part, we’ve been generally doing the 1 hour up 2 hours crate nap schedule. I’ve been trying to extend his “wake windows” for longer, sometimes 1.5 to 2 hours, but by the end he gets so jumpy and nippy. He really can’t settle down by himself to nap outside of his crate. When he’s awake, I feel like I’m frantically cycling through enrichment, walks, etc. to keep him entertained. Should I keep putting him back down for a nap when he seems overtired? Should I try keeping him up for longer now? We’re working on settling – treats when he’s calm, rewarding him for staying on his bed, etc., but it’s never long enough for him to fall asleep.

  • Puppy sleep success – 1 week

Adopted my 12 week out mix 1 week ago. Have been utilizing enforced naps quite a bit, and after 1 day of accidents in crate, he has been accident free in crate. He typically goes down for sleep at 11pm, and we wake up between 6:30/7:30, accident free. Today being my Sunday (I run a restaurant), I pushed a little bit towards 8:15, and not to my surprise, he was completely accident free. Life is definitely more hands on with the pup in it, but his behavior has been fantastic. Sticking with these enforced naps as long as it makes sense for him. Any advice on what age the enforced naps should stop?

  • Vote for Luna loo

If you go onto a website called pupvote and go to the west midlands section my beautiful angel Luna is on there, she’s the most adorable sprocker spaniel who lights up my whole family’s life, she lost her left eye to acute glaucoma earlier this year but I think she’s still the most beautiful and it hasn’t stopped her from chasing any ball shaped object she sees aha, if anyone who feels like it could go and show her some appreciation it would be awesome

  • Pressure Activated Fan 4 Pittie?

Problem: Roommate's pittie is home while all at work. Our town gets hot randomly throughout day, and landlady won't let us keep fan or AC while we all work.

Solution: Pressure Mat that activates fan. Landlady cool with it and pittie can activate whenever (smart 🐶).

Question: Is there product? Or do I have to solder a pressure mat to a relay?

  • Am I allowing bad behavior?

My wife and I have a 10.5 week old golden lab German Shepard, and possibly Great Pyrenees mix. We rescued him at 9 weeks so we’ve had him for about a week and a half.

For background my wife and I grew up in golden and lab families with our families adopting puppies. So this isn’t our first puppy experience.

Now the issue. He’s biting us. I get he’s a puppy and teething. But ideally we don’t want him doing that lol. Everything I read is you don’t punish, you distract with a toy. Problem is we try to distract him with his favorite toy and he just grabs it, drops it right away, then goes back to trying to bite our hands, ankles, and face. He’s even starting to snarl and show teeth at us when he’s in that monster mode.

So are me and my wife allowing poor behavior? Or is he just being a 10 week old puppy? Last thing we want is him to grow up thinking it’s okay to bite us or other people or on top of that show any type of aggression and then because of it all he gets taken away from us

Any tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated.

TLDR: puppy is biting us and snarling. Is he just being a puppy or are we allowing poor behavior?

  • Socialization with no exposure?

We adopted our puppy at 8 weeks. He gets his last set of shots at 15 weeks on 11/20. Our vet has given us strict instructions he's not to be around other dogs (regardless of vaccination status) or places where there have been the potential for unvaccinated dogs. No walks around block, no trip to dog park, no trip to pet store, none of those things. He's already 13 weeks, how am I supposed to socialize him? We already missed out on the puppy classes we had planned on, we thought 2nd set of shots would be enough, but the vet said no.
