  • Walking tips for 5 months puppy

Hello, I have a 5 month cavapoo puppy who doesn’t like to walk. He will usually just walk for like 3-5 minutes and then wants to go back. Is this normal? I did try to socialize him to our walking routine since he was 13 weeks old by carrying him in a bag before he was fully vaccinated.

I have an older dog family dog (he is almost 13 years) who we got when he was 7 months old and since I can remember he has always loved walking. So I wasn’t sure if it was normal for puppies not to like to walk. If so what are some tips I can do to get my puppy to like walking?

  • Tips to help puppy settle in the morning

I would appreciate some advice about our 9 week old puppy who we have had with us for a week.

He is doing amazing, and is a very quick learner. He is toilet trained and only waking once in the night. We are very blessed and generally during the day he settles in his crate for enforced naps after a small amount of whinging/crying but we are struggling in the morning. When he is due his first nap, he shows he is sleepy but takes absolutely ages to settle and then he doesn’t sleep very deeply and keeps waking. We do sit with him in the lounge while he falls asleep.

I’ve tried enrichment, Kong and toys etc just incase he isn’t sleepy enough and I’ve tried putting him to nap a little earlier incase he is actually overtired. I don’t know what it is about this first initial nap that is an issue. Hoping for some ideas!

  • ISO sighthound harness recs

Does anyone know of any UK available harnesses that will suit my skinny sighthound-y mutt? He's currently in the 3 peaks excursion harness (link below) but has started to grow out of it and I've had some difficulty finding a harness that works for him and also fits his weird shaped bod!

    https://www.petsathome.com/product/3-peaks-excursion-dog-harness-black/P71756

I love that this harness has 3 straps and that it doesn't go over his head (he is not a fan of over the head harnesses despite my efforts of positive association so this is a non negotiable feature for me). However I'd love to find a new harness that also features a front clip and doesn't have a handle (or has a smaller handle) so that he can wear a coat over it now it's getting colder.

Please if anyone knows of a harness with these specific requirements let me know. Many Google searches have not yielded any winners… Ty in advance xoxo

  • 3 year old does not like hos reflection.

My 2.5 year old Akita Mutt recently decided that he hates his reflection. He will bark for hours at it. The funny thing is that I've tried to cover it and he is smart enough to move a curtain out of the way, but not smart enough to recognize the reflection as himself. Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips?

  • Cocking his leg on people!

My 6 month old westie has recently discovered the art of lifting his leg while he wees. Unfortunately this has resulted in him marking indoors just as we'd got him toilet trained.

But the worst thing is that he thinks stationary legs are fair game and tried it on 3 people at the park!

Amy suggestions on how to stop? I'm having to keep a real close eye on him and startle him into stopping but has anything else worked??

  • I need help with training my crazy puppy

My dog is a 4 month old chihuahua yorkie who loves biting. He is play biting i think… but they’re really hard bites. We have tried redirecting to toys and chews, we’ve tried cbd treats and oil, we’ve tried the thing that you press a button and it beeps and vibrates, we’ve tried ignoring him, we’ve tried putting him in the crate for short periods of time after he bites, we’ve tried light bops on the nose, everything but a shock collar. Absolutely nothing has curbed his biting. He also will bite down on your pant leg and hold on and growl as you walk around. When we yell at him “no” or “stop” he playfully barks and growls. He also never seems so loose energy, we can play fetch hope an hour and that still won’t tire out his tiny body. We’ve thought about puppy day care by its just not in the budget. We do eventually want to get him neutered but they haven’t dropped yet which also needs checked. Do we think neutering will help?

  • Please help me – pee everywhere

Please help me with potty training my 5.5 old Shih Tzu. We have tried everything for 3 months now, and I am losing my mind!!!

My puppy keeps on peeping on our living room rug or floor, and every time he manages to sneak to a closed off bedroom (closed off because he pees there) he pees on the carpet.

He has a wee wee pad that is in the kitchen and accessible to him when he is not in the crate/playpen (we let him out of the playpen when we are home) and he uses it 80% of the time and we reinforce with treats and praise. But then he pees on the living room rug for like no reason (and we try not to shame him but even “no” doesn’t work) – and without warning.

He has been licking up his pee puddles on the floors and on the living room rug. He used to eat up the wee pads and still tries to eat them after he pees. We replace the wee pads immediately after he pees to prevent him from eating it.

My house smells like pee – I’ve used gallons and gallons of enzymatic cleaner – and I am miserable. I tried to get help with a trainer and no one know what to do.

He is finally crate trained at night and during the day he will pee like every hour on the kitchen wee pad, the living room rug, or on the floor.

The vet ruled out medical issues and did multiple urine tests for UTI, bacteria, crystals, diabetes etc. He also thinks I am crazy for wanting to rule out medical issues and says he’s just a puppy…

But we have had him for almost 3 months, and he still pees every hour during the day!

We have like 2 accidents a day still and he is 5.5 months old.

He has a crate and play pen that he is calm and comfortable in. He is otherwise a happy puppy, aside from teething. He goes outside 2-3 times a day but just marks pee and usually poops. He is fed 3 meals a day and we take him out or to the wee pad before every meal and immediately after every meal. He has a set feeding and go outside routine

Any tips please? I’m desperate already. Please no judgement. Just tips. Thank you in advance.

  • New puppy Biting Help

I just got my golden retriever 8 week old puppy 4 days ago. He’s the sweetest little thing who loves cuddles and is super clingy. He has taken to crate and potty training so so well and is almost the perfect, easiest little puppy. Except for the fact that he BITES like crazy. He bites so hard that it punctures and bleeds and then bruises. i’ve tried all of the tips. Redirection to a new toy (he shows no interest and ignores the toy and goes straight for my arms or legs), a loud stern no and even a bop on his nose (literally doesn’t even phase him whatsoever), fake crying and yelping and then turning away (it worked for 1-2 times and then he stopped caring), ignoring him and walking away or putting him up (firstly, that sounds a lot easier than it is because he just goes at my legs or jumps up to bite me as I walk away and when pick him up to put him up), then as soon as i let him back out he’s as bitey as ever. He latches on and doesn’t let go. We’ve been making sure he gets a lot of sleep and enforced naps but we wakes up on a vengeance. I can tell it’s him trying to play but dang it hurts so bad and is so nonstop that I don’t know what to do. He will only play with his toys if he’s alone in his play pen, as soon as we are in the mix all he wants is to bite us.

Any advice or tips or if I just need to stick with what in doing please let me know, we are dying over here.
