  • Looking at adopting 8 month old dog, how much work is it?

My gf and I live in an apartment, we have access to a fenced backyard. We currently have a 3 year old doodle (hers), who is very well behaved and pretty chill. We want to get another dog, and have our eyes scoped out on a 8 month old rescue. She's familiar with raising a puppy, and I'm ready for the commitment. Moreno wondering how much work another dog is.

I'm not trying to discount it as I know they are a ton, but just curious. Also curious in difference between a 8week old and a 8 month old as it pertains to work, I assume the 8 month will be a bit easier?

The puppy is current living in an apartment, crated 8 hours a day, and mostly potty trained.

    Cheers.

  • My puppy doesn’t like cuddles :——(

    As the title says

She gets bitey and would bark when I cuddle her in the sofa (on my hand and lap)

So sad… so much money spent on an emotional support dog that is not emotionally supportive😂

  • Is peppermint oil safe or unsafe to use in a diffuser if you have a dog?

I’ve been trying to research which essential oils are safe to use around dogs, and peppermint oil has completely stumped me. I’m seeing totally different answers. Some articles say it can cause extreme harm and even kill a dog, while others say it’s harmless and is even used in dog-approved products. I’m not sure which source to trust anymore, everyone and everything is saying completely different things

  • Need a cleaning question help

How can I get yellow urine stains out of my laminate floor it occurred less than 24 hours ago. So I tried looking up this question on my own but I couldn’t get anything except for mixed answers. I just brought my golden retriever puppy home last night and he must have had an accident that I did not catch. I live in an apartment and I have laminate floors and I noticed a yellow stain that looks like urine and it has to be from yesterday as I had just mopped and deep clean the whole apartment as he only has one round of vaccinations so far and I do not want to take the risk of him getting sick of course.

  • OutFox Field Guard, best puppy purchase

Just wanted to recommend this product to anyone who may be struggling with their dog picking up and eating stuff they shouldn’t off the ground. I was tired of stressing about it, wrestling stuff out of her mouth, not being able to relax on walks keeping an eye out and still failing. my pup would not accept a muzzle despite my best efforts so the vet recommended this. With a little positive reinforcement over a few days she took to this really easily. It’s much more comfortable because they can still open their mouths and bite but can’t ingest anything harmful. It’s undoubtedly the best purchase I’ve made for peace of mind. People give you some odd looks because it looks weird and it’s a shame the public can’t see her cute face but still worth it

  • Will he ever stop humping?

When he first came to our little home, my puppy was an angel. He would cuddle with us, lick our feet, and play nicely. He didn't even bite.

But he's growing, and now he's acting like an old pervert. I don't know how much humping is normal. Should I stop him? If it's just a phase, I can try to ignore it, but if it isn't, I don't know what to do.

He humps his toys and his blanket. Recently, he tried to hump my arm while I was lying down. It's getting scary.

I'm so lost on this topic. Any tips or help would be appreciated.

  • How to let dog sleep in bed without them peeing

My puppy LOVES a sleepover. And I feel so happy letting her sleep in my bed. One problem though – she pees on my comforter every time we have a sleepover. I guess in the middle of the night. I take her out before, so I’m not sure how to stop this? She holds it when she is in her crate? So I just want to know how to stop this?

  • Recommendations on high raised dog beds with stairs?

I'm trying to find options for a high raised dog bed that I want to put next to my desk so I can have my girl next to me at about chair height level. Something like this, just trying to find more options. If anyone has any recommendations it would be greatly appreciated

  • do vets need to disclose fees before charging?

My dog had an anal gland abscess 2 weeks ago. I have now spent over $650… and I am not wealthy…

I just went to the vet for a recheck. The previous check was $100 (visit plus additional Clavamox). today I went back for another recheck and it was $146. I asked why and was told it was because they expressed the anal gland (which I’m not even sure was true… the vet did feel in there to check the healing).

I feel like this should have been disclosed to me prior to doing it to mention the charge. As we are already coming back in two weeks after more medication for yet another recheck I probably would have declined. I really can’t afford all of these charges. If it was absolutely medically necessary I would have done it but I don’t feel that it was and I feel like I should have been given an option.

    Thoughts?
