  • suddenly reactive

Let me start by saying this is TOTALLY LEGAL! In NYC parks dogs can be off leash from 6-9 AM and after 9 at night until the parks close at 1 AM. I take my dog every morning to Central Park for an off leash walk for an hour. We meet dozens of dogs on our walk. Whiskey (my dog) has been a dream for 3 years. He passes 90% of dogs and checks out the other 10% briefly. But twice in the last week he started with two other dogs his size (he's a GS mix at 75 lbs). It only lasted 2-3 seconds and he backed off but he was not just saying "fluff off". Lunging, teeth baring, growling/barking. As I said, 2 seconds maybe 3 but it's unnerved me. I put him immediately into sit and put his leash on, told him he lost his privileges (not sure he understands) and apologized to the other owners. They shrugged it off as "dogs" will be dogs but it's really upset me and I don't think I can trust him anymore.

He's fine at home, no weird behavioral changes so I don't think he's sick but I want to know if anyone has advice in this?

  • Menace dog problem

    I need help, solutions, ANYTHING!

This dog comes onto my property multiple times a day. He's untrained, too old to be retrained (without SERIOUS effort that I'm not putting in because hes not my dog), and his owner doesn't care what he does. We're reported it multiple times to the council AND the RSPCA and both said they wont do anything.

He bothers my chickens, chases my cat and harasses my dog- specifically sexually.

He's still coming back, even after being chased. Hell at one point in desperate rocks were thrown- a lot. Some hit him- in the head.

EVERY time, he'll leave for maybe 5-10 minutes before coming back- especially now that my dog is on heat, chased him off before and after 2 ACTUAL COUNTED MINUTES.. he was back.

Sometimes he does leave for hours- and then hes back.. within 12 hours.

His owner knows this by the way, that he's over multiple times and causing trouble, doesn't care.

This damn dog is like 2 by the way, mix of a stumpy cattle dog and a bully.

  • 10 wk old Puppy demand barking

Hey folks! Just want to say this subreddit has given me and my partner so much reassurance these past two weeks so thank you all.

We brought home our Australian Labradoodle puppy two weeks ago and for the most part she's been amazing. She's going into her 11th week, and will be able to go outside properly on Tuesday. She sleeps through the night, and is 98% toilet trained, she's literally had like 2 accidents in the house.

We've been told by the breeder and trainers and vets and all the videos we've watched that the puppy needs to get 18-20 hours of sleep a day. We are typically enforcing between 4 and 5 naps a day, but as time has gone by, she's becoming less and less settled in the crate during the day, and will sleep for about an hour before she wakes up and barks and barks. We take her out to the toilet, usually she wees, then when we put her back, and again the barking resumes. It's quite a "chatty" bark, so whining, digging, vocal mini howls etc.

Then, we've also noticed that when we're playing and training, when we're not giving her the attention she wants – perhaps we're too slow on giving her the treat when she does a trick, or she wants something that she can't reach – she will bark at us, very pointedly.

Any advice on how to stop these two things?

With the crate training, she's literally in the crate now crying. She had been asleep beautifully for about an hour, then woke up and started this barking and digging. Do we tough it out? If so, do we sit by the crate and have our hands in between the bars to reassure her? Or is that too much attention? Do we literally go sit in a different room? I just don't want to reinforce that by barking she will get her way.

Help, advice or any words of reassurance would be so useful right now <3

  • Puppy peeing inside at 5 months

My puppy is 5 months old now, me and my bf have had her for around 2 months at this point and she’s been making such good progress in all areas to imagine, but there’s one issue that’s nagging me. She’s pretty much fully housetrained, meaning she never pees inside except for accidents. But every time we’re about to go for a walk or she sees us preparing for a walk and we call her name she pees herself. She can’t hold it in and she just starts peeing or sometimes it comes a little. This is pretty much every time we’re about to go for a walk and I have no idea what we’re supposed to do. I’m so tired and my mind just tells me that this is something that’s always going to be a problem with her. I don’t know if this is common for 5 months puppies either. Ive had three dogs in my life and none of them have been this bad. At first I thought “well, she’s got a small bladder and it’ll get better” but now I’m starting to think it might be some underlying condition. She drinks excessively much water, all the time and it just feels like she constantly needs to pee. Maybe it’s a UTI but I don’t know, could it be submissive peeing? I just need to vent because every time she pees inside it just feels like a huge step back rn.

  • ISO rescue to sponsor foster dog

I’ve been trying to save this dog for over a week. He has $600+ pledges on Instagram and I am willing to foster him indefinitely. He’s in Los Angeles and I have transportation to the SF Bag Area (where I live) lined up for Thursday the 20th. I have reached out to a dozen rescues and most of them won’t even respond to me… does anyone know of a rescue I can reach out to that might help save a shepherd/husky mix that is super depressed and living in a concrete cell the size of a crate with no window? I’m desperate – he’s due for euthanasia!! Feel free to PM me if you want to see his video. Leo A546299 at Moreno Valley Animal Shelter
