Looking for suggestions to “dog-proof” a vehicle.
We have two medium-sized dogs (35 lbs and 55 lbs). For the time being, we transport them to and from places in the back of an old beater vehicle, but we plan on selling that car soon, and when that happens I’ll have to start transporting them in the back seat of my pickup.
Neither of them is the calmest when in the car, and they’re both shedders. Additionally, I’d rather avoid having their claws scratch up the seats. I’m looking for advice on how to protect the truck from damage, as well as keep the dogs safe during transport.

Air travel
I am planning to travel with my dog in cabin internationally from Canada to India. Previously i have had a horrible experience with Air Canada because the entire staff was extremely rude and heartless. Does anyone have any advice on which airlines should i choose this time for my travel?

What pet safe fragrance/freshener for car do you use?
I'm having a hard time finding anything worthwhile about this topic anywhere on Reddit and online. I'm a dog owner who wants their car to smell good. That being said, I don't want to use essential oils or the fresheners that hang on the mirror that are filled with toxic chemicals. I'm looking for a pet safe alternative. Does ANYONE know of anything I can use? Thank you in advance.

Where should I crate my puppy? Where she can see us or no?
I just got a 3 month old Shih Tzu Yorkie about 2 weeks ago. She's a beauty!
I don't know where placing her crate is best. I'm a stay at home mom of 3 homeschooling boys so our house is noisy and fun all day long.
I'm currently trying to crate train which insists of like 1-2 hour intervals during the day a couple times a day. I'm trying to learn her naps and put her in the crate when she starts to find places to lay on the floor.
She will cry for the first 5 minutes and then stop for 30min to an hour before she begins to cry again.
I've tried putting her crate in the living room where she can see us. I tried putting her crate in my room with the fan on and the door closed to eliminate some of the noise and view of me and the boys. I tried covering it half way with a blanket.
She seems more frustrated when she can see us. So I put it in the room and she seems frustrated because she knows she's by herself- which I wouldn't want her to develop an anxiety.
I'm trying to teach her to learn to live with the noise and action. I'm crate training so she can learn to love the crate incase I need to leave for a few hours. I can't leave her out she just pee's and poops. She's peeing and pooping at night around the house on nights where I can't listen to her cry in her crate for 15 minutes straight and wake everyone up.
What kind advice do you have for busy, noisy homes like mine with a new pup? Where do I need to be consistent? What should I try? Anyone have experience with this?

Daycare/boarding = freedom? Having an existential crisis as a dog parent
I did it. I don’t normally send my 7-month-old pup to daycare or boarding (it’s expensive here and about a 45-minute drive each way), but I finally did it, for a total of 48 glorious hours of freedom.
I’m a solo puppy mom to a 7-month-old border collie – so yeah, full-on energy 24/7. Yesterday I had a business meeting, and this morning I went for a surf, grabbed a coffee with friends, came home to a clean, quiet house, and got straight into work — and honestly? I feel… free.
I even properly cleaned the house yesterday for the first time in about five months, and it’s still spotless. I thought I’d miss him like crazy, but instead I just feel like myself again. The last couple of times he was in daycare or boarding, it was because I was swamped with work or traveling, so I never really had the chance to just enjoy the break.
I do miss him in the afternoons — that’s normally our time when we play or go for a walk — but wow, the mornings and daytime feel so much easier without him around.
Now I’m wondering – is this normal? Or is this the universe telling me I’m not cut out to be a dog parent? 😅 Don’t get me wrong, I adore my little chaos machine, but this mini break has made me realize how much he’s been running my life lately.
Anyone else ever feel like life suddenly feels a bit easier without your dog… and then feel guilty about it?
