Pet insurance: is there any plan that covers TPLO surgery for both legs (no bilateral exclusion)?
I’m in the northeast, currently with PetsBest and they have bilateral exclusion for TPLO surgery, meaning if they cover it for one leg they won’t cover the other leg.
Most dogs will need surgery on the second leg after having it done on one leg, and this costs $7500 in my area so I’m looking for a different plan.
Looked at Lemonade and Trupanion and both also have bilateral exclusions.

What do you need BEFORE getting a puppy?
I know it's the nature of the sub, but for those who have lived through the puppy stage, what would you say are needed items upfront or at the start of getting a puppy? Beds, towels, bowls, chew toys, etc. Anything to make life easier and be proactive.
And any advice?
I can say that it gets better, usually just after you think of quitting!

I need some help with the puppy blues.
Hi. I just got my 8week old golden retriever puppy 4 days ago and the puppy blues are destroying my mental health. I don’t even know what it is that is bothering me. My stomach and brain feel like I’m going through a break up. My stomach feels like it’s in knots and it has that ‘drop’ feeling like being on a rollercoaster. I can barely sleep. I can’t eat at all. All I can think dream and breath is my puppy. My fiance is handling this so well and is able to not let the puppy consume his life. He calls me a helicopter mom, and I know I am, I just don’t know how to stop being one.

Puppy Biting – What do I do when the rules aren’t working?
We have a 12 week old Lab that has been with us 2 weeks now. He's a serious biter, and it's a real problem for us (we have small children in the home). I've been researching all the different biting solutions – Sympawtico, Zak George, etc… but I have yet to see them work with one as aggressive as ours is.
When he bites, he does NOT let go. I have tried screaming "ouch!" and my wife and kids have genuinely cried… He stays firmly attached. I will offer him chews/bully sticks, but he will drop them and go right back for our skin. I want to reward him for letting go with encouragement and treats, but he just will not do it on his own – I have to pry his mouth off of my kid's legs and arms. When I try to disengage and walk away, he pursues and bites harder. When I try to look away to discourage the behavior, he gets aggressive and snaps at my face. I'm worried he's going to bite one of my kids in the face (he's already bitten them pretty much everywhere else – hair, legs, rear ends).
How do you disengage with a puppy that doesn't take no/ouch for an answer? It usually just tends to escalate into him throwing a tantrum of biting and snapping, so I'm forced to put him in his bed for time out… which he usually accepts, but I really want him to understand that he is crossing a boundary and that he will get so much more love and attention by not biting. My kids are already terrified of him, and he's going to get much much bigger.
Any advice?
