How do you walk/socialize your puppies in the winter?
I have a chihuahua so she especially gets cold really fast even with a coat on (i dont want to buy her booties yet as her feet are tiny). I feel guilty for neglecting her walks, but she gets so wet and shaky. I take her to dog friendly inside places like the mall or pet stores, but we dont meet many dogs there. I was thinking of carrying her around my town and setting her down around dogs so she walks on her own next to them without fear, would that be enough?

I am devastated I may have to rehome our puppy
It's 3am. I'm severely sleep deprived as I write this but before I get into the puppy, I need to give some back story. Our dog passed away in May. He was my shadow and best buddy. That alone was incredibly difficult to grieve. Shortly after, my mother got diagnosed with Breast cancer and to top it off, my grandmother's health also suddenly declined: needing 24/7 care. I moved in with them temporarily (they live out of state) and became a full time caregiver to them for several months. It was an extremely dark and scary time for me. When I came home, I felt so empty not having a wagging tail around. My husband and I went back and forth about if we would get a new dog or not. Well, for my birthday we went to a shelter adoption event and we brought home a sweet adorable puppy… This girl will not settle down to sleep at night. She cries all night long. We've done all the things to get her comfortable in her crate. Elevated to eye level next to the bed, heartbeat heated stuffed animal and scented shirts for comfort, reassuring pets, treats during calm moments. Nothing works. I'm really worried about the lack of sleep effecting my husband's work as he has a very demanding job. I am so depressed. I'm afraid in my grief, I jumped into this too soon and I just can't do it anymore. I'm heartbroken and hate to send her back but I'm afraid I don't have the capacity to give her the best life.

Few days back I visited my friend who had a pariah dog and cannan dog which were extremely good on all domains .
We all know about the famous dog breeds like labrador retriever, german shepherd, golden retriever, doberman ,terrier etc. But there are many other dog breeds/landrace(indigenous) dogs which although are not popular due to some reasons or some are not even classified as any breed( many landrace ones) which can prove to be a great companion but are underrated ! Drop down such breeds name along with their temperament and your experience

Tips for potty training in winter?
I got my new puppy last night. Shes 8 weeks old and i spent the first night with her in a large crate and i slept on the floor next to the crate in a sleeping bag with my senior dog also sleeping on the floor near us.
She slept right through from about 9:30 til 5:45 and only cried once when i left the room to go pee.
She had no accidents all night and pee’d on her puppy training pad as soon as i put her on it.
So far the only accidents shes had on the floor are right next to the mats so i think shes trying to use the pads but just missing sometimes.
I tried popping her in the garden to pee this morning but she just stood still trembling and crying because it was so cold and as soon as i brought her back inside she ran straight to the training mat and pee’d there.
Any tips other than getting her a puppy jumper for getting started with peeing outside when it’s freezing cold and rainy?

Puppy energy and crate management
My Dachshund is 10 weeks old and I am trying to balance working from home with a puppy who has a lot of energy and barks and cries.
I’m lucky enough that if she’s tired or I put her in a crate sometimes she settles however a lot of the time she doesn’t. I make sure that I’ve taken her out to try and go to the toilet before putting her in and make sure I played with her each time.
But my main question is while working from home, what schedule should I follow for great time during the day? How long? How many times and do I have to play with her every single time before I put her in or am I overthinking and being too soft with her
I know that some people go to work from 9 to 5 so the dogs are alone the whole time so I think I’m not putting her in enough but I have no idea how to balance it.
While I’m working downstairs, I do let her run around the house quite a lot during the day. I don’t know if I’m doing this too much or not.
