  • How to entertain puppy before vaccines!

I have a 14 week old puppy and she’s getting her last set up vaccines this week. As she gets bigger she has more energy and has been biting like crazy. She has started growling and biting harder and I know it’s because she’s bored since we can’t walk her yet (per her vet) we live in a condo so no backyard of our own. how can I get her energy out while we wait for her last vaccine and the OK from her vet to take her on walks. She’s a German shepherd/pit bull mix and idk if it’s breed related or what but the biting is getting bad and I need suggestions! TIA!

  • Advice needed on afternoons

Small breed puppy is 12 weeks old, has been home w us for three weeks.

Set up is a playpen downstairs with sleep tent (in lieu of crate). Sleep tent comes up to bedroom at night pup sleeps through night with a wake up around 1 am for pee then back to bed until 5

Pup does well with enforced naps during day, settles within a minute or two no issues. Pup is okay being left at home for 3-4 hours if needed for work. Between naps there’s potty play training etc, try to ensure pup is only up for 60-90 mins until next nap.

After 3 pm though, cannot get pup to spend time alone in crate or engage in nap and then pup becomes hyper, nippy, and overstimulated until bedtime at 6:30 pm. Have tried Kong, other toys, free roam downstairs etc but pup will cry, will not settle on own, and it’s just like a 3.5 hour bad zoomie until put him down at 6:30.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as it’s been hard to manage 3-6:30 pm for about 5 days now.

  • Paracord

Has anyone used 275 paracord to make dog leashes? I’m looking to make a 15m long line for my dog out of paracord and that seams like a good light weight option compared to 550 maybe? It’s only going to be used in low traffic areas, but I still wanna make sure it’s nice to grip. I’m thinking of doing a 4 strand braid!

If you’ve got or had one how does it hold up in wet conditions like rain or swimming? Does it get really heavy? Easy to clean? Does it have a lot of stretch? I still wanna be able to communicate with my dog. Iv been using just an average 10m cheap nylon leash but it’s constantly hurting my hand + I can only find it in 10m or less. I was looking into a long biothane one, but really going over 10 ish meters will get to heavy 🙁

  • Puppy trouble plz help

Is there anyone willing to help me train my puppy? She's a Shephard mix. She's a really good dog and I don't wanna have to rehome her but I'm not sure what to do anymore. She's been pottying in the house despite going out regularly. She's even chewing things. Anything she can get her paws on despite having chewtoys and bones. She's jumping on people and chasing my cats. I've been doing the umbilical cord method to help with the cat chasing. But I'm not sure how to get her to calm down on the other stuff. And I don't have 4k to spend on the professional trainers in the area. Any help would be appreciated. She's my first large breed puppy. I grew up with small breed dogs my whole life and I'm not sure how to properly train her.

  • 4 month old puppy barks at other dogs

So I have a four month border collie X yorkie pup. About two weeks ago she started barking at other dogs, previously she was absolutely fine, ignored dogs. It has escalated from little boofs to quite loud barks- which only happened today. I can usually redirect with treats but if the dog gets too close or barks she starts barking. I can still redirect when she is barking but her attention only lasts a few seconds. When the dog is calm she redirects fast and stays focused on me but when the dogs are moving fast or barking at her she struggles to stay focused. Is this normal? Its really stressing me out and I'm scared I've made her reactive. Should I continue to redirect with food and toys? We also have another dog who she is completely fine with, and she is fine with dogs we know. Today for example she did great with most of the dogs we saw until a group of four dogs passed us very close, and she barked a lot, then after that an offleash dog ran up to her and she barked and even a few little growls. Also another puppy was barking at her and she barked back but in that instance I think she wanted to play. Please help!

  • Advice on caucasian shepherd female

I am an experienced owner of dogs having previously had a very energetic and demanding german shepherd, spanish shepherding dogs and spanish mastiffs. I have never owned a caucasian shepherd before but the opportunity has presented itself to adopt a 2 month old bitch.

She is a cross between a caucasian shepherd and a basque shepherd, I have a toddler and a baby and I wonder how the breed would be around children? I will be sure to socialise her from a puppy to be around lots of different people, I wonder if being a bitch she would be over protective of my little girls and wary of accepting people into our home, though if I socialise her well from a pup could this be corrected or is it innate with this breed?

Please give me specific information regarding your tips and first hand knowledge of socialistas and training this breed, your experience as owners of it, advice for integrating them into family with small kids and your typical daily schedule with one. Feeding requirements, stimulation, training, correcting, grooming, all. I want to ensure my home and family are prepared and educated on this breed to give her the lifestyle she deserves while also adapting well to my family
