  • Is it okay for puppy to sleep in crate without any blankets/beds?

My 11 week old puppy has chewed/tried to eat any blanket or bed I've bought him, so I cannot keep any in the crate for him. I feel a bit bad that he's just laying on the hard crate surface all the time. Is this normal, and at what age might he "grow out" of eating his bed/blankets? Post-teething? Thanks

  • What enrichment to do with puppy while missing a few days of walking due to freezing weather

It’s currently 10-0°c where I live and I feel it is too cold to walk my puppy. I’ve ordered a coat for him but it won’t come till the end of the week (I should’ve had one earlier IK). Any fun enrichment things I can do with him to equally tire him out?

  • Please help, my dog has been “revenge” peeing everywhere

I recently adopted a 3 year old Jack Russell mix from the local pound. I was told that he was potty trained etc, but he had been re-homed twice. I thought that maybe it was due to his high energy, but boy was I wrong!

Within the approx 6 weeks that I have had him, he has developed a pretty decent attachment with me, amazing at first, but now if I leave the room, he will pee everywhere! Even if I take him outside and he’s fine, he somehow musters up enough to pee somewhere in my house. Not only that, but he pees if he doesn’t get the food that I have, or if he doesn’t get immediate attention.

It has been so frustrating, I feel like I’ve tried everything. I’ve tried potty training him again with all the positive reinforcement in the world, treats and a lot of “good boy!” But nothing has seemed to work for the long term. Last week he was doing amazing, no peeing in the house at all. But starting yesterday, he has started “angrily” (I know that isn’t the correct term but I have no idea how else to put it) when he doesn’t get his way. There were no environmental changes at all, so I don’t know why he’s started it again.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I’m not really in the market for extreme behavioral training but I will do it if I have to! I absolutely love him to bits, he’s the sweetest little guy, but the peeing has to stop.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

I know dogs don’t understand revenge, it was my only way of wording it

  • Will I regret my decision? Is it just puppy blues?

Please don’t judge me for this. I really just need advice.. I lost my soul dog who I raised since she was 8 weeks old in May, she was 12. I recently started missing having the companionship and all the joys that come with having a dog. After talking to my partner, we decided a foster to adopt trial may be good for us. He was not fully convinced but wanted me to be able to test it out. We spent a good week and a half looking for good matches because we have a dog savvy cat who loves to get close to dogs and he seemed to be getting lonely. We found a 1 year old pup who was found attacked by a bigger animal only a month beforehand. We decided to try to foster to adopt her. It’s nearly day 3 of having her and the GUILT and REGRET is eating away at me. She really is a great pup overall and ticks so many boxes off of what we were looking for. But my cat seems to dislike having her around. And I don’t feel the connection. I also don’t know if I’m fully ready. I really thought I was but now I don’t know. I’m an emotional wreck and don’t want to commit if I’m not 100% there. Does it get better at any point?

  • Psychologically hurt my dog

I don’t believe in hitting. But today my dog shit on a really important school project worth 50% of my grade. Thankfully I was able to recover and got it done in time, but before that I grabbed my other dog, pushed my dog a few feet away, told her to stay, and made her watch me massage and love my other dog while she had to watch us from a distance. anytime she inched closer I pushed her back lightly, every time I heard her move from a sit, Id give her a death stare and if dogs could cry, her face would be it. She looked crushed and went to hide in a dark room and wouldn’t come out until today morning. (a few hours later) I feel horrible because I was able to replace it, and now I fear I’ve hurt her feelings immensely.

  • It gets soooo much better!!

Hang in there! My girl is 16 months old and she’s currently napping on the couch next to me. I truly never thought this day would come. She used to be (and sometimes still is) absolutely insane. I had the worst puppy blues.

Posting to keep anyone currently with puppy blues motivated. You got this ♥️

Things that helped: -this community! -enforced crate naps (she still gets them daily) -crate training via Susan Garrett’s online videos -constant place training -running around at dog parks to burn off energy. I know this one is controversial but I always kept a very close eye on her, to the point where I follow her around, and knock on wood we haven’t had any problems

Thank you to everyone in this amazing community for the support, tips, stories, and more that got us here 🫶🏼🐾

  • Stepped on my goldendoodles leg (I think!) and feel like the worst pup dad

Washing stuff up in the sink, stepped back in my trainers, and obviously onto pups legs. He cried and then held his leg up so I immediately gave him hugs and he started licking me like crazy! Next thing, he's walking away fine, no limping. And now 2 hours later he's playing with the kids, and walking and playing just fine. I keep going up to him and saying sorry and I feel like literally the worst human alive. And no matter what ChatGPT tells me, worried that i really did hurt him. He's totally back to normal. What are my chances that I got away with it? Will tip toe around the house forever after. Feel so damn guilty.

  • Noah & Paw crates

Has anyone used these? I found them online and they seem perfect for what I need. I can’t believe they’re not more popular, I’m wondering if they’re too good to be true?
