  • Small head normal snoot muzzle recs?

My dog recently got injured, and she needs a muzzle for the vet due to this.

At the emergency vet they had a basket muzzle that fit her perfectly, but I didn't recognize the brand. The vet tech said I could find them on Amazon.

I ended up buying a baskerville muzzle, because it was what I was able to get in time for her first follow up appointment. It's a size 4 and the fit looks good around her nose, but it slips off her head at the tightest setting, even with the safety strap attached to her collar. The next size down is too small (her nose sticks out of it).

She has another follow up visit in early December, and I'm hoping to find one that fits properly by then.

If it helps I told the emergency vet she was 50-ish pounds and that produced the correct sized muzzle. She looks like she has a normal sized noggin, but it is all fluff and ears.

  • Adolescent puppy help!

Puppy is 10 months old. There's a few behaviours I'm struggling with.

    • his loose lead walking. I've been doing the method of changing direction every time he goes to walk ahead of me and giving him treats when he engages or walks to heal. I've been doing this day in day out for weeks now and seen no improvement. He pulls, lunges forward to get to where he wants. We can barely make it past the drive before he starts pulling forward or lunging. When he was a puppy, I felt like we were making progress and its gotten worse now.

    • He's reactive to people and dogs on a walk and wants to say hello to everyone. He will lunge or try to run forward to greet people and dogs. Ive tried making him sit and giving him treats or throwing treats to distract him. Sometimes it works, most times he's focuses and locks in, will end up on his hind legs and tried to run and lunge at them.

    • mouthy behaviour. I can't seem to sit on the sofa without him getting overwhelm/ over excited and mouthing me. He always grabs my hands and pulls them towards him. Sometimes he'll grab my clothes. I have tried saying no firmly, getting up, ignoring him, and walking away but he still continues to be mouthy no matter what. Redirecting to a toy doesn't work and he just wants my hands.

Edit: Blankets, he goes crazy for Blankets and pulls all blankets off the sofa to run round the house with. No Blankets are safe if he's bored and has no distractions. The Blankets are there to save the cream sofa and he just pulls them off and plays with them.

Please help because otherwise he's a very well behaved and smart dog. I can barely get his physical energy out due to not being able to go on longer walks with him as the trainers say to keep it in a familiar place and work out further. I'm never going to leave mt driveway at this rate. And I just want to chill on my sofa without being mouthed.

  • Help with barking at night

Our cockapoo is 1 year and 8 months old. He has always slept in his pen which we keep with his toys & water in a room that is lit with dimmed blue lighting. Until 2 weeks ago he has always just made his way to his pen between 10 – 10:30pm. Letting us know he’s done for the night. We take him out to go around 7am so he’s not had any accidents and waits for us to come get him. However for the last 4 weeks he doesn’t not want to go by himself to bed, as soon as we say it’s bedtime he runs and when we place him in the pen he starts barking. If we sit with him he ends up falling asleep but starts barking the moment we leave. Since he has a tendency of going pee/poop in the house if we don’t open the door the moment he stands by it to go outdoors we don’t want to take a chance of keeping him in our room especially with mornings being hectic. What do we do? We feel bad that he’s barking then whimpering. The only thing that’s been off the last month is that my husband has been traveling for work a lot so he’s been in and out a lot.

  • Leaving puppy for 1.5 hours

My family comes into town on Monday and I want to take them out to dinner. We just got our puppy a week ago and he’s great with his crate. Is it okay to leave for 1.5 hours so soon to take them out?

I feel so guilty and not sure if it’s too soon or not!! Anyone else do that before?

  • Puppy food questions

I have a 4 month old German that is currently being fed the Hills puppy food as it’s what he’s been eating before we got him. His poops are quite runny and after talking to his vet today he said it would be good to change his food to see if it changes. What I’m wondering is what to change his food to? I’m from Ireland and was wondering what other people from Ireland are feeding their pups? I’ve also only had good experiences with the Ownat brand with my previous dogs so would love a bit of insight on that food as well. Thanks

  • Sudden Behavior Change. Help!

Some time within the past month my dog seems to have had what I can only describe as a psychotic break. He has become absolutely obsessed with a particular room in the house and, specifically, the trim/edge of the floor and the entryways to the room. He is sniffing incessantly. He is biting and chewing on the wood. And finally, the last straw, he started ripping off the trip itself.

He is a mixed lab and probably around 110 pounds. He’s doing a lot of damage and I don’t know wtf is going on.

He seems to have followed whatever it is that he’s set on to other part of the room as well but I have no idea what is going on.

The obvious thing would be if there was some sort of mouse in the floor or the walls but I honestly don’t think that’s it. There wouldn’t be a mouse in the tight area where the trim is that he has now ripped apart.

Does anyone have any ideas or tips? This is driving us crazy. He was prescribed anxiety pills when I told the vet. We used the for about three weeks but I was hoping we could start weening him off them. Then I saw the ripped off wood and feel like we need to figure out the core issue here’s.

  • Help with sudden aggression

Hey everyone. I have 2 dogs, one is an 11 year old Dane Mastif mix (who i have had since a pup) snd one is a 4 year old Dane Boxer mix?? (Resuced her at 6 months)

Besides the younger pup being scared when we first got her, we have had little issues, and she has grown into a wonder dog. She had amazing recall, is eager to please, gets along well with the older dog and is very loving.

I have a toddler (almost 3) and the 2 of them are almost inseparable. (Its really cute) however there was an incident today.

While I was doing the dishes, my daughter was beside me on the floor, and the younger pup was on my other side. She unprovoked went after my daughter. I had to pull her off her. (Thankfully no serious harm, but she was bleeding) my daughter was petrified.

Im looking on advice. Anyone know what might have caused this shift in behaviour? (The dog was looked at by the vet) Would a muzzle until we can figure it out be a good idea? I want to look at all options before I jump to re-homing the dog.

    Thanks
