  • Puppy that doesn’t like to be touched

Hi! Our 4-month-old puppy is extremely difficult to handle — she bites almost constantly. There is a slight improvement compared to one month ago, in the sense that she sometimes bites a bit more gently, but not consistently, and she doesn’t react at all when we say “ouch.” Most of the time she doesn’t want to be petted (she either runs away or tries to chew on our hands). She constantly tests boundaries: she’s not allowed on the sofa, yet she repeatedly tries to climb on it; the second we’re not paying attention, she chews on the furniture or jumps on the bed.

It’s really hard to feel affection for a pet that shows no interest in being touched or cuddled.

Is there hope that she will become more affectionate at a certain point?

  • What are things you never thought you’d say?

Here are a few of mine:

Stop chewing your sister’s ear, it’s not a treat!

    Stop eating my pants!

Aww “insert nonsensical lovey baby talk words here”

  • Helping with second dog

So we have a 6 year old chocolate labrador who's incredibly sweet and we were going to get a second dog (golden lab) but we're not sure how she'll react so if anyone could help that would be great (eg, how to introduce them, space sharing etc)

  • Introducing puppy to a reactive dog – Christmas help

This is going to be our puppy’s first Christmas with us and we’re in a difficult spot deciding what to do.

The usual rundown for Chirstmas is we open presents at home, and then take my partners daughter to her mums to open presents there, from there we go to his parents for the rest of the day.

The issue we have is that his parents have a reactive-aggressive dog to other dogs. She’s previously bit another dogs ear off (they spoke to the vet at the time and as it was a one off there was no need to put her down). She does play with the dog next door but that’s with a fence between them, and will bark and pull at dogs she sees on walks but hasn’t done anything since that incident.

My partners parents got her at a year old from a dog home, she was found on the side of the road so sadly no known history of what she went through before that.

My partners parents initially said she would be muzzled/in the garden so our puppy can come round for the day but we’ve talked them out of this since it wouldn’t be fair to their dog. And would still run the risk of scaring our pup and making her reactive, the muzzle won’t stop her going for our dog just stop her getting bitten.

Does anyone have any tips or advice?

The reactive dog is a genuine sweetheart, if you met her you’d have no idea she had issues with other dogs. It would be great to know if anyone’s had a similar issue and how they support reactive dogs.

Just to add if we have any concerns at all they will not be introduced and potentially never meet, but this is what we do on Christmas so it would be good to know if this is something we can work towards next year if this years a no go.

  • New dog in the family, need help and advice for tips

I am getting a dog next week and have been trying to do some research before i bring my new dog into the family.

Mom is ½ Pembroke and ½ Cardigan Corgi, and Dad is a purebred Pembroke. He is a blue merle corgi in this sense around 11 weeks?

I am curious to know the best dog food and treats and supplements to make him as healthy as can be!

I have done a couple of research but keep getting different answers online lol.

Any advice from corgi owners from dog food, supplements, tips and tricks thank you!!!!😊

  • Does anyone else get weirdly anxious choosing new places to take their dog?

So this might sound silly, but every time I want to take my dog somewhere new, a trail, a park, a café, whatever, I get this little knot of uncertainty in my stomach.

    Like…

Will it be safe? Are there off-leash dogs? Is the terrain okay? Too crowded? Will he get overwhelmed? Will I?

I always end up Googling, checking maps, reading random comments, and still feeling like I’m guessing. Half the time I just go back to the same old familiar spots because it feels “safer,” even though I’d love to explore more places with him.

Does anyone else feel like this?

How do you handle that uncertainty? Do you just go and hope for the best, or do you have some kind of ritual, checklist, or way of scoping things out beforehand?

Would love to hear how others deal with this, because I’m honestly tired of sticking to the same three places every week. 😅

  • Pure pet food discount referral

Hi everyone, I’ve been using Pure Pet Food for our four dogs for some months now and they all seem to absolutely love it. I’ve seen some real benefits with it in terms of weight management and quality of stool etc and most importantly, the dogs themselves seem to thoroughly love it! So if anyone is thinking about putting their dogs on pure but feel a bit intimidated by the price, I thought I would share a referral code to get 50% off the first order and 20% off the next order after that. Feel free to use MATTHEW50535 as the referral code or use this link – http://www.purepetfood.com/s/MATTHEW50535/c

I’d like to stress as well, I am in no way affiliated with Pure or using this as a form of advertisement. Simply, as an owner of multiple dogs I know the prices can stack up and I would like to share a bit of discount with other dog owners in the run up to Christmas. Enjoy!
