  • How can I travel with my dog?

So im moving to Hawaii in a few days for a new job, and I am just now learning that I can't take my dog on the plane with South⁤west unless he goes in the cargo space, and they have a bunch of requirements. The other option is to ship him on a boat or get a private plane. All of those sounds absolutely horrible and definitely cant afford pri⁤vate.

I've seen a bunch of dogs on planes when I travel, so what the heck!!!?

I saw on another post that you can get a PSD letter from this site, which turns your dog into a service dog, and then he can sit next to you on the plane. Is this legit? Has anyone actually done something like this? There is a bunch of conflicting information online.

Kind of stressing about this. Any info would be awe⁤some.

  • new dog

hi, we just adopted a dog, and we are a multi pet home. she did meet our senior dog b4 adoption, and they got along fine. it was unknown how she was with cats or any other behavioral isssues she might have, and i was okay with that, as our cats have free range of our home and our dogs stay downstairs. she is unspayed but was put on a waitlist to get spayed. we brought her home and all was well until she started showinf aggression and resource guarding. the resource guarding, i wouldve just trained out of her as i study and train dogs, but the aggression was where it made me nervous.she is a great dog, but is also very clingy and was starting to already resource guard me. we also have a puppy, who is very dog social, but with the new dog, but they both clashed and he gets extremely upset with only her. this has only ever happened once b4 with a different dog we tried to adopt, where my puppy did not like that dog but still tried, it was just a lot of clashing, now its more aggression based. on top of that, our 2 cats, who are extremely confident and love walking around everywhere, now hide and will not go out of their room until the dog is away. i thought it couldve just been because the dog is simply brand new, but they both have never done this with newer animals until her. also, the newer dog is showing aggression towards the older cat (i dont know about the young cat as she was hiding), and thats a big no no, as its a senior cat, and while she can be grumpy, aggression towards her is not something im okay with. it also ended up to where both the newer dog and cat got into a scuffle. is it time to just give the dog back to the shelter? i kept trying to find excuses as to why all of this is happening but its hard to accept when its out of the norm for all our pets to act a certain way. what do i say to the shelter? what if the shelter wont take her back? ive dealt with a shelter before that wouldnt take back a dog we adopted even though i was having health issues while dealing with my puppy and the other dog becoming aggressive towards one another.

  • Best Bed for an underweight older lab

I adopted this stray dog about three days ago he went to the vet today and they are guessing hes about 6-8 years old and hes underweight by quite a bit. Hes 67 pound and he shoukd be 80-90. He's been sleeping on my bed the past three nights (I know i shouldn't have probably done that but i just wanted him to feel comfortable) I dont have a problem with him sleeping up here but my mattress is very old and not great quality and after doing some research im worried its hard on his bones and joints because he has no fat to protect them. I keep seeing recommendations for an orthopedic memory foam bed, but what size dimensions should I be looking at? Im especially worried about the height of the bed and ensuring it won't flatten under his weight. Any advice is very appreciated !!

Also very off topic but he loves to mark things, im planning on getting him neutered asap but im worried its more of a "natural thing" for him to do rather than a hormone imbalance since he's been a stray his whole life. If you have any tips of training that would be awesome too! Thanks yall!

  • Why can’t we upload pics?

So weird. I want to see everyone’s cute fur babies. Who doesn’t?? Am the only one who thinks this is weird? The cats sub lets you upload pics all day. Super bummed.

  • Dog barks at everything

How do you deal with a barking problem? My dog barks at everything. It is most bothersome when I have family over and she barks at them when they are in my house. She will even bark when I’m holding her.

I just don’t know what to do about it. Everything I try fails.

  • My old dog suddenly started peeing and pooping in the house. Advice please?

My chihuahua pug mix is now around 17/18 years old. Despite that, he still has lots of energy and runs around the house like a puppy half the time. He's in great health. The only thing is, as he's gotten older, it seems he's decided he's no longer potty-trained.

He's always had occasional accidents, but it's gotten so much worse in the last year or so. We are now finding pee and poop around our house multiple times a day. Our routine has always been that he finds us and lets us know when he needs to go outside, and we'll let him out. Also, whenever we got home, in the morning, and at night. Now, he's resistant to going outside most times in the day and has just become comfortable doing his business inside.

I know that as dogs get older, they might lose their ability to hold their bladder so well. Our old dog had that problem as she got older. I really don't think that's what's going on because he's in such good health otherwise, and he's resistant to going outside. I'm pretty sure this is a behavioral issue.

We're feeling lost on what to do. I love him, but we can't keep living like this. It's embarrassing, for one thing. We need solutions. Assuming this is a behavioral problem, what can we do to try and fix this?

  • DogWatch pro fence beeping

so a DogWatch pro fence system beeping rapidly with the power button green. unplug the loop wire and still beeps with a green light. is this a power cord issue or a transmitter issue, don’t believe a broken wire because the power light is green and not red…

    thanks!

  • Welp Monday is the day (spay)

After procrastinating, I'm taking my 9-10mo old lab in for her spay.Taking 2 weeks off work as I don't have anyone to stay with her. No idea how I'm going to keep this dog still for 2 wks. She already takes 100mg of traz every morning at 7am and that stuff starts wearing off around 3p. Even on that, she's still hyper. I suppose I'm going to have to tear my bed down and put the mattress on the floor, cause she's not going to stop jumping on the bed and I can't sleep on the couch. Vet said she'd just be taking more traz for this. She fights me when I slip a martingale collar on her, so my mind is racing with how she'll react to a cone. Really hoping this isn't going to be as bad as I think it's going to be.
