  • Landshark Puppy – how to deal with biting

We have a four month old whippet called Stanley who is the joy of our lives! He’s got a lovely little personality and he has fit right in with our family.

He was a shy boy to begin with so we took him to puppy socialisation classes since he was 13 weeks old to build confidence and meet other dogs. Unfortunately last time he was there he met a staffie puppy who relentlessly went for him and play bit him until I would separate them when it was obvious that stanley had enough (owners were nowhere to be found).

Almost immediately after that experience Stanley now thinks the way to play with dogs is to bite them. We went to the same class today and I had to put him on the lead because he was being very rough and biting the more timid dogs. I would walk him away when he was being too much and then reintroduce him when he had calmed down.

My question to all you fellow puppy owners is, is this normal? Some dogs did correct him, but they’re all young like him so he would stop and then find another dog to try and play bite with. People said to us that he just needs older dogs to correct him but is this true?

All help is welcome! We want our boy to be able to make friends and play with other dogs nicely ❤️

  • Newly Adopted 4mo Puppy Won’t Stop Hopping Onto Couch

Hello, there. My husband and I have been with our 4 month old pup for just over a week and she seems to be adjusting really well! So well, that she has figured out how to hop onto the couch and now does it repeatedly with us trying to teach her “Off” because of it. We wanted to establish this boundary to teach her to ask to come up later on. Trainers recommend giving them a comfy bed to call their own, and to essentially continue to take them off anytime they hop on, which we have been doing, but she gets fixated sometimes and will just keep hopping on. My thought is to tether her around her bed, and we’re trying to barricade the couch with pillows. Any suggestions, or do we just hang in there?

  • Help my puppy does not poo outside

I have a 4 1/2 month old bernedoodle. I live in the 50th floor of a condo so he mainly goes out to potty in the balcony. Whenever I take him out for walks he rarely pees and never poos. Will he start to learn to go on his own ? Or have I trained him to only go out in the balcony. Please help.

  • Second dog

I know this gets posted all the time but looking for some opinions on my situation!

We have a 1 year old cocker spaniel. He is great, house trained, knows basic commands, is very kind and LOVES other dogs company, like a lot.

My partner and I have always had in our mind that we will have 2 cockers since we got him. Its for us as much as it is for him.

Im just wondering about introducing a puppy to a one year old. Im worried about regressing the one year old. He uses a doggy door to let himself out to the toilet, and im worried if we have puppy pads out for the pup he will regress there.

We want the dogs to be as close to the same age as possible, as we want them to match energy.

Just looking for some input around keeping dog 1 obedient while raising another pup

  • Rescued puppy won’t stop itching (NOT FLEAS)

I recently rescued a puppy from a shelter. They told me when they first got him that he had a mild case of fleas and that over the last 3 weeks he’s been on multiple treatments for them and in the last week they hadn’t found any on him. However when I brought him home I noticed he won’t stop itching a few spots so I thought he must still have fleas, however I’ve gone over every inch of him with a comb, flashlight and camera and haven’t found any signs of fleas, no dead fleas, no eggs, No nothing (he’s relatively short haired so I can see down to his skin perfectly) . However I have noticed he’s pretty dirty so I’ve chalked up his itching to just being dirty, also in the places he’s itching he does have healing cuts so it’s possible those could be itching too. The problem is I can’t give him a bath for atleast another week 1/2 because he was neutered on the 13th and they say his stitches can’t be wet, I got some wipes and have been wiping him down to help cause he smells, is there anything I can do to help his itching until I can give him a bath? I feel terrible for the little guy 🙁

  • Separation issues and naps

Hello wonderful puppy community, I was wondering if anyone had any advice on my below situation. Ive spent lots of time already going through and trying suggestions from similar posts but nothing has clicked.

My goldendoodle is 4 months old and we've had her for a month now. The very first night we got her, we crated her for the night, but I now think was a mistake, she sleeps with me now I'm next room over from her crate room and we've sectioned off the house with a gate.

Anyway, fast forward to today, she's a bit of a velcro pup and cries if im in the house and she cant get to me (fine if im out though and someone else is here!). What im struggling with is her naps, whenever I get up to grab something from the kitchen for example, she will follow, napping or no. As you can guess, this means she is having very interrupted sleep through the say and we dont think shes sleeping enough as we're picking up on over exhusted behaviours especially in the evening.

Ive tried crate training, shes fed in there three times a day (is very hesitant to 'come' though). We've managed 8 minutes of her in the crate with the door closed and me moving around but feeding her every few sections. However, after we crate train even if its a short time she will act like the crate is evil! I cant keep her in the sectioned off house because she will just cry and wont settle.

Sorry for such a lengthy post, but does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get her to settle and stay settled? Whether its shut in somewhere or free in the room im not too bothered, i just dont love over tired puppy!

  • 5 month old puppy got used to potty on pee pads, can’t potty outside

My 5 month old puppy got used to pottying inside on pee pads. I tried removing the pee pad but she just did it exactly where the pee pad was.

She just isn't doing it outside. She's been doing it inside for 3 months now (since I got her, due to vaccinations ) it's driving me insane
