  • how to cope w grief after rehousing my dog

My family got a rottweiler for Christmas last year! We were super happy and he bright so much joy to our lives, but he was a handful. Of course, not his fault, but our lifestyle was not conducive to him (we're always traveling/moving, and he had terrible travel and separation anxiety). Dor his benefit, we rehomed him around August ish, and the little updates we've been getting have been helping. He has a large family, a yard to play in, and kids who can keep up with him– from what we know, he's thriving and happy which eases the pain greatly.

However, I just miss him. Every dog I see reminds me of him and I get so emotional– he was my little buddy. I wish he could understand human language lol bc I just want him to know I love him and I'm thinking of him. Any advice on how to cope?

  • How to stop dog fur in the car?

Someone hit my car, so it’s at the collision center getting fixed, and I got a rental. The rental company says they’ll charge $250 for pet hair 😩 My Golden Retriever rides with me every day to pick up and drop off my kids, and he’s so sad when I leave him behind literally crying at the door.

Does anyone know how to take your dog in the car without getting fur everywhere? Would a dog pajama or onesie help? Any tips appreciated!

  • Recently moved to Canada from England with dog. Pet transporter isn’t taking blame for issues that occurred. Any experts out there who can help, please?

Our beloved golden retriever was denied boarding twice and his arrival in Canada was delayed by more than 24 hours. When we submitted a complaint to the pet transporter, they put all blame on the internal procedures within the airline and airport handling teams. Does anyone work for a pet transporter and can shed some on light on whether this is normal, please?

First time he was denied boarding as that airport said he needed DEFRA (and I was told that isn't the case at another airport and they weren't aware it was required here) and the 2nd time was because the paperwork wasn't signed (and pet transporter company told me that it doesn't usually need to be signed).

  • How to stop puppy ripping clothes

So I got my 8 week old golden mix about 4 days ago, and his training is going great in that he is 100% toileting outside, sitting when told to, and even learning to lie down. He’s also sleeping downstairs by himself at night with no crying; so all in all, the best case scenario.

HOWEVER the main issue we’re having at the minute is when he’s playing and is overexcited, he bits your clothes/ankles/sleeves and will not let go. He’s growling and trying to play tug of war, but when I offer him another toy, he does not let go. Offering a treat doesn’t work because he will always let go and sit nicely when he knows he’s getting a treat and I don’t have a treat or a toy on-hand every second and by the time I’ve walked into the kitchen to get a treat with him attached to my leg, he’s already ripped my trousers. Anyone any advice for this behaviour and how to stop biting in general? I feel like he can’t play without wanting to bite your hand and my solution is to go and get some puppy dentastix and a tug of war toy because I think it’s a mix between teething and playing, but just from an obedience perspective what do I do?

  • Curious about dog travel safety — do small dogs really need a car seat or carrier?

    Hey everyone,

I’ve been thinking about this for a while. I’m trying to find a safe and comfortable way for my friend’s small dog to travel in the car,his name is potato loll, very cute and naughty. I’ve checked out a bunch of products — seat belts, harnesses, bags, and crates — but none of them feel quite right.

The harness type doesn’t seem ideal because the dog is tiny, and for short city trips it feels a bit unnecessary. But at the same time, just putting the dog in an open-topped bag or box on the back seat feels unsafe too.

So I wanted to ask — what do you all think about travel safety for small dogs?

Do you actually use any kind of restraint or seat setup? Have you noticed any safety risks or behavior issues when the dog is unrestrained? And if she drives alone, she will worry about her Potato,i mean, there should consider maybe material or color of product?

I’m a product design student, so I’m also curious from a design perspective — what kind of product would actually make sense for small dogs in urban settings? If anyone has thoughts, experiences, or suggestions for improvement, I’d really love to hear them.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Just looking to get some advice

Just looking to get some advice. We’re moving out of state soon and will be living in airbnbs until we find a permanent place and are considering rehoming our 1 year old lab/pointer mix or having her stay with someone until we’re settled. Now that I’m getting ready to make a post about it I’m feeling extreme guilt and second guessing on whether or not we should. It has not been easy having her and I think she deserves to be in a home where she is appreciated for her very energetic personality. Our 4 year old and her haven’t bonded like I thought they would which is another factor. Has anyone gone through this?? What did you decide??

  • Are there dogs that CANT/SHOULDN’T do bite work? What’s the reason?

I saw a tiktok of a person saying they were gonna try to train their pug for bite-work and hunting. Are there any drawbacks to doing that, since pugs aren’t bred for that? The only thing I couldn’t think of would be the dog getting hurt because of how small it is. I’d like to know what everyone else thinks!
