My puppy doesn’t respect me, I’m losing it.
Hello! I am not usually on Reddit but i’m seeking out as many sources as i can.
I have trained other dogs before that I have had and even rabbits! However this small breed pup I purchased has been a stressful nightmare for me for the past month and a half. I got him at 3 months old and he is now 4 1/2 months old. (YorkiePoo)
The first week he sort of understood how to use puppy pads, then completely ignored them and still will till this day. The second and third weeks he had many accidents in the house but was peeing outside too, with lots of praise and reward. I was also teaching him tricks twice a day in short intervals. He knows sit, down, come here, paws, high five, snout in the hand(hole), get down, roll over, spin.
The end of September he had the full week of pottying outside with no accidents. However, the beginning of October he made an accident, he deliberately squats right in front of me a couple of feet from just taking him out of the cage, and eliminates. I tether him with a leash to go out and have a positive voice saying ‘lets go potty outside! outside outside! lets go lets go!’ and he follows along but he pees on the way to the door. Now this is every time. He knows it is bad. He gets guilty and tries to become small or run back into his cage. I take him out anyways “good potty! good potty!,” and reward him and have a good tone, not like the “No!” inside. He gets happy and im able to do more tricks or play.
Back inside the house he runs back to his cage tethered or not, and refuses to respond to ‘come here.’ I patiently wait for maybe 2 minutes (sometimes more) until he comes out of the cage where I am sitting with a treat. I am sometimes am able to do a couple more tricks too if he is in a good motivated mood. But when I stand up it’s instant unmotivation and not listening to absolutely anything. Just sits and had his ears back and lays down. So i put him back in the cage to take him out again later and try to train. Trying to take him out to potty now, he refuses to leave the small room his cage is in (didnt have a play pen and the area i offer is the size of one) and if he gets close to the exit of the door, he runs back to his cage. It’s almost like he is afraid of peeing, he knows he has to go but also knows he gets in trouble for peeing in the house. Why does he not understand he gets the rewards outside? He knows its good outside. He has never eliminated in his cage and will hold it for any duration until i take him out— just for him to pee immediately on the floor. So i know its not a small bladder issue since he can hold it however long. So im at the point where i semi-lift him walking to the outside door just so he wont pee inside, because the second I put him down on all fours and walk, he eliminates. I also have a larger dog from which he has not learned from him outside either and also only wags his tail with the larger dog, but not when I appear or my partner. Playing is difficult, training is difficult, pottying is difficult. It has been a month and I have reached out to a few behaviorists, and trainers, asked my vet, sought out a training website attached to my pups initial purchase. I haven’t received any information regarding his specific behavior since; only how to do positive reinforcement and how to train the puppy pads.🫥 (puppy pads are useless, he cannot decipher the difference between floor and pad, even with his pee on it, it gets ignored).
Thanks for reading please let me know if there is something i can do, i’m so stressed out. Also i do use an enzyme cleaner for his pee in the house.

I’m looking for a low maintenance non shedding dog
Good morning all,
I am basically liking for a dog that comes close to caring as a cat. Please do not tell me to get a cat, because I really don’t like them. no offense to cat lovers. I am looking for one that doesn’t shed, where one walk a day will do, and one where I only had to take out a few of times a day. However, I can also tolerate one a little more than that as long as they are the type of dogs that aren’t so needy that I have to go with them every time, since we have a fenced yard. Definitely none that have to be taken out in the middle of the night past the puppy stage. To touch back on the needy part, in a few months, I’m going back to work part time, so I can’t have one that isn’t okay with being alone for a little bit. It also has to be a small to midsize one. For whoever took the time to read this and respond, thank you so much!

4 month old Potty Training Help
I have a 4 month old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Her first month home she was potty trained to use the bell on the door and everything was great she did wonderful. We went away for a weekend with her, and ever since then potty training has flew out the window. I can usually catch her before she poops in the house as she shows signs. But with pee it’s impossible she just squats wherever whenever. She is crate trained and has no issues with that. When she is up and out of her crate I take her out quite often as suggested. But no matter what I have tried she cannot get it in her cute little brain that she needs to go outside. Any advice??
