  • Building a free puppy training resource – what should it cover?

I'm putting together a comprehensive puppy training guide and I want to make sure it actually addresses what new owners struggle with most (not just what I think they need).

For those of you who've raised puppies or are currently struggling:

    1. What's the #1 thing you wish you'd known from day one?
    2. What advice did you get that turned out to be useless or wrong?
    3. If there was a complete guide, what would make you actually use it?

Not selling anything – genuinely want to create something helpful based on what real owners need, not generic advice.

Your input shapes what gets included. Thanks for sharing.

  • Those that didn’t crate train

If you didn’t crate train your pup, I’m curious what your nighttime sleeping arrangement was and how you handled leaving them at home for a period of time alone.

  • puppy won’t stop eating his poop!

my puppy is in his vacuum cleaner era

hes 3 months, had giardia and anemia, but he is fully cured now. he eats well and does not go on walks yet because he's not vaccinated (he's starting with them this monday)

the problem is he poops and immediately eats it. my husband and i are usually 18/7 with him, basically racing against him to get to his poop first, but even if we pick it up the puppy gets absolutely crazy looking for it

need help with this poop enthusiast puppy please!!!

  • Bully sticks and chew toys

My 19wk old puppy is a chewer! We’ve had him for a week so still getting to know his preferences but finding that the more comfortable he gets the more he’s nipping at our hands, legs, feet, everything!

I gave him his first bully stick yesterday and he’s obsessed. So much more engaged than with any synthetic chew toy we’ve given him and I noticed that after he finally gave it a rest he wasn’t as interested in chewing on me. That said I’ve read here that the calories are something to be concerned with? What are other alternatives we should try that might be just as engaging?

  • Dog hair irritation? Not what you think

Has any other dog owners noticed that once in awhile you might have an itch or irritation around your foot or wrist and scratch a bit, then it doesnt helps so you take a look and see a hair there, but you can't scratch it off. So you grab some tweezers and it turns out you've pulled a dog hair out from under you skin that somehow got impaled under your skin?

    Or is it just me?

  • My dog sometimes wakes up at night and walks around the house?

We had our dog for a few months now. She's almost 4 years old. Up to now she usually slept well, beside us on her bed, and sometimes changing position to be on the floor where it's colder. Nothing out of the ordinary.

But now she's acting weird. Sometimes at night she's waking up and starts walking around the bedroom back and forth, like she's searching for a place to sleep, getting out of the room, into the other room, sleep for a few minutes, and goes back into the bedroom. Sometimes just for a few seconds and going back out, then in again.

I'm so confused as to why she's doing this.

    Any idea?

  • starting to run with my dog, need advice

I usually go running by myself, but lately I’ve been thinking it would be fun (and motivating) to start running with my dog. The thing is, I’m not sure if I’m doing it the right way or if it’s even good for him at my pace.

We’ve tried a few short runs, and sometimes he seems excited, other times he gets distracted or tired faster than I expect. I don’t want to push him too hard or make it stressful for him.

How did you start running with your dog?
Any tips on pace, distance, or gear that really helped you both enjoy it?

  • Why do my dogs do this?

Sometimes when I try to get them to come into my room, I’ll call them over but they’ll refuse to actually come in. If they come, sometimes they’ll just stand outside looking at me. After I shut the door, minutes later, they’ll start to ask to come in.
