  • How are you guys managing outdoor time before they actually have a solid recall?

My corgi is officially obsessed with the yard, but his recall is… well, non-existent if there’s a stray leaf blowing in the wind.

I’m trying to balance safety with letting him actually explore, but I’m struggling a bit with the logistics. Right now we’re rotating between long-line leashes (which he constantly trips over with those short legs) and a heavy-duty playpen setup for "unsupervised" chill time while I’m gardening.

I see a lot of people mentioning setups from MidWest or FXW, but I ended up getting a modular metal one from Garvee because I needed something tall enough to stop the "corgi hops" but sturdy enough not to blow over. It’s been a lifesaver for my sanity, but I feel like he’s getting bored of the confined space already.

Curious how others handled this "teenage" stage? Did you rely more on long lines or pens? Any "I wish I knew this sooner" tips for yard safety?

  • Highly fearful/anxious puppy

I adopted a puppy from the SPCA in December. She’s 5 months old now and very anxious and fearful. We are slowly getting used to things but I fear she will never be crate trained. I’ve followed the guide on how to slowly get her in there but it’s been over a month and she’s nowhere near ready to go in on her own. Any advice?

  • I don’t like my puppy

I’ve had my Husky/German shepherd girl since she was 10 weeks old, she is now 8 months, and althoughI love her, I don’t like her. I feel a great deal of frustration as I have poured my entire heart and soul into her upbringing, and it feels as though it was never enough for her. She is a sweet, smart, playful, and beautiful dog, but I can’t stand her. I am simply exhausted, sick and tired of the daily demands, her quirks are infuriating, and nobody around me understands. I have come to the conclusion that perhaps I invested in the wrong breed of dog and I simply cannot keep up with her anymore. There’s nothing wrong with her and it is entirely my fault, but if I could rehome her I would in a heartbeat, which is so terribly sad. All of this time just to get here…

  • At home blow drying

I bought an at-home grooming dryer for my dog and we used it for the first time today and it’s great. He is a Wheaten Terrier that mats really easily and hates being brushed (i have to wait until he falls asleep to brush him) so this is really helpful for preventing that. Only problem is he hates it. We just used it once today and he started out fine, just a little cautious, but the he started biting at the dryer. I was able to redirect him with some high value treats, but with how long it takes him to dry, he ended up eating quite a lot of them which isn’t great, especially since he has a sensitive stomach.

Does anyone have any tips for getting him to actually be comfortable with the dryer and not need to take as many treats during the process?

  • My dog is going blind

So my dogs been going blind due to some eye problems and I see him hesitate to go through doors or jump up onto the couch or my bed. Occasionally he’ll bump into things as well, luckily I don’t have any stairs so I don’t have to worry about that but I am wondering if there’s something I can do to help him get used to being blind I guess? It just makes me feel bad seeing him bump into things. I do have pet stairs to help him get on the bed but as for navigating my house I don’t know what to do.

  • Posible emocional attachment

I don't know if this fits in the tag I chose but I don't know where more it could fit, so the other day I was cleaning a closet in my house and I found a stuffed animal that I used to sleep with when I was little, and as soon as my dog(poodle toy) saw it, he started jumping and barking at me, so I gave it to him, I was waiting for him to start playing with it like he usually does but instead he grabbed it, took it to its bed and started licking it, I don't think he has ever seen it so he can't remember it, anyone knows why this happens?

  • Dog resting his head on mine?

Title says it all. He’s never done it before but recently while playing or just resting he’ll walk up and put the full weight of his head on top on my head. And just leave it there. Standing, sitting, playing, relaxing, it doesn’t matter just a big old dog head plopped right on mine. Why does he do that?

  • Big dog owners with roombas. Can you give me your experience?

So me and my wife are dealing with the neverending hairs and I was wondering if those little vacuum robots can handle doghairs or if they are always constantly clogged.

    All info welcome.

  • Shampoo/conditioner for dry skin?

Hello everyone, I’m looking for some good shampoo and conditioner recommendations for my 8yo golden retriever with dry skin and dandruff that appears between baths. She’s already on a special kin/GI kibble and monthly Cytopoint. Any good fragrance-free shampoos/conditioners you all use and like? Thank you in advance🙏
