Advice needed around buying a 5 month old puppy for a first time owner
For context I am potential first time dog owner. I want to do as much research as possible to ensure I am making an informed decision and can provide a good stable home for them.
I went to see this little chihuahua at home (where he was bred) last night to potentially purchase him. A few potential concerns have arisen and I left feeling very unsure.
Little man is 5 months old and last one of the litter to go. He is peeing on puppy pads but isn’t allowed outdoors yet. He was VERY timid and was running away/growling at me a little bit however was ok when I held him. He seemed very scared of me. I don’t think much training has been done so far and his socialisation seems quite limited. As far as I could tell they haven’t started on basic things like sit, stay etc. He has not been on any walks yet. When I asked about separation anxiety/barking I got a vague answer about him growling at another dog when he went for his vaccines at the vet.
Owners are obviously quite keen to get rid of him. My main concerns are that I’ve missed the crucial socialisation window and will struggle with training, other dogs and meeting new people. As an inexperienced owner the last thing I want is to buy a dog I am not ready for/can’t handle. Is it too late to socialise and train him?? Are these actual red flags or is this normal for a puppy this age?
Any advice would be appreciated. He is SO cute but unfortunately I left the interaction feeling a bit deflated and really unsure 😭😭

Puppy doesn’t like husband
Basically as the title says! We have had our little one for about a month and she is incredibly attached to me. My husband works from home and when I leave she stays on our bed all day and doesn’t really interact. Yesterday she peed once (inside which is unusual for her) and this morning my husband took her out so I could get a few more minutes sleep and she peed on him and ran right back to me. If I leave a room she immediately follows me.
So I guess it’s two things:1. Way more attachment to me and 2. Seems slightly afraid of husband. He is also getting frustrated with her which I assume she can sense.
Any advice welcome!!
