How selective and careful should we really be?
Probably gonna get some snaps for this but realistically, how thoroughly do we need to research breed lines, family history, dna results, origin country before getting a dog? I've researched breeds, that's valid and we're settled on a lab. The more I research, the more complicated it gets! Working lines, show lines, drives, colours, british, american.. i'm so overwhelmed. We're not looking for anything crazy, first dog for a family pet. 3 kids, youngest being 4 and eldest being 11. I have time, energy and drive to focus on training and exercise will be reasonable accomodating the young kids. Some days they'll out run any dog around an oval, sometime a casual walk to pick them up from school with a 4 year old riding along on a bike will be the work out. We have an enclosed yard, we have the money, we're not being completely stupid snd neglectful here but do we REALLY need to thoroughly and indepth research 70 different breeders and the pups lineage and shape of its head to find a good family pet or can I just go check out some local litters from good, loved family dogs, lick one and figure it out from there. Any success stories from casual puppy collections and rescues? This is just all a bit extreme for a first time family pet, will I really kick myself that hard?
Be kind, i'm running on limited sleep after staying awake researching all night..

Teaching puppy to be home alone
So my puppy just turned 6 months and since I got home I have been working from home and its been nice spending so much time with him and training him. I just got notice that in January i will need to move from fully remote to hybrid (so like 3 days in the office). My pup has been ok when by himself so far. He is fine being in another room or in the backyard without me, and when i leave the house he is ok mostly. I have noticed that if im gone for longer however he does get a bit upset like lots of whining. I will be gone for about 6 hours when i go to work in the office, if you guys could drop advice on how you prepared your pup to be home alone that would be great. I would really like to get to the point where he can just free roam in the house and not in the crate the whole time so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Why do people think cropping/docking makes a dogs body language impossible to read
is it because they've never seen a breed with natural pointy ears or a short tail before? it seems so outlandish if you actually interact with dogs regularly i don't believe there have been any studies on this, if there are please link them

What am I doing wrong?
I have a 4 months old Australian shepherd. When I got her she was about 2 months old. I crate her every night when I go to bed and sheβs fine but if I leave the house she screams and screams. I have a bed in there for her and toys and also a bone to chew on. I give her treats before I leave and yet she still screams. Iβm at a loss of what to do she wakes up my family. This is the only issue Iβm having. I canβt handle a dog who does this especially if I get an apartment and this might be a deal breaker for me even though I love her to death. Please please please help. How can I fix this?

Dog food recommendations?!
Hello all. Couple of weeks ago we bought a Cane Corso puppy. He was on Royal Canin food but I am not a fan of their ingredients so we gradually changed that. All good but I'm still not happy. He is currently on Brit large breed hipoalergenic. I will sit down one day and compare some ingredients but I am more drawn to Acana maybe? My question is ..what are you feeding your big dogs with? Premium and super premium food recommendations please. Oh, something that can be found in Europe, please! πππ» Thank youuuu
