Vasectomy over neutering
Hey,
I’m thinking of paying extra to get my male puppy a vasectomy over traditional neutering for health reasons. From what I have read the benefits of keep the dogs gonads outweigh the risks; and the major risk is accidental breeding, so a vasectomy would help with that. I have heard some people opt to do the traditional neutering to deal with the behavioural issues if they are bad enough (eg marking, wandering, aggression), but I’m curious if that behaviour can be trained away?
I’m curious what other people’s experiences with this route has been? Was it the right choice for you? Did you end up doing the neutering as well if the behavioural issues were too hard to deal with? Would love to hear!
My pup is 8 months old, a mixed breed and will be about 65-70lb fully grown. And I won’t be doing anything until he’s at least 2 and fully grown regardless of the choice I make. The approximate cost I was quoted was 1400$ from a vet in Vancouver BC in case anyone was curious about estimated costs. And I’m doubtful any of this will be covered by his Fetch insurance at this stage

Is a lost in appatite, increase in tireness a result from switching baby tooth?
Hi!
Next week our puppy turns 4 months and she already lost 2 teeth (almost light at the end of the biting tunnel) but since newyear she doesn't eat that much anymore or is super hyped to eat. The mornings are difficulter, but the afternoon and evening she eats a bit easier but also in some cases not everything.
But could maybe the pain of changing teeth be the cause of this?
Of course its always a possibility that she sleeps easier with the days because she settles more maybe? Or a dog can have days that they don't eat much sure but it's kinda strange that it's just suddenly you know? She still plays and is her good ol' self but yeah it's a bit concerning. Example from this morning normally i take her to the potty, give her food, play and train, walk and then she goes back to sleep while i go to work. Now she skipped everything and went to sleep from the crate directly to the basket in the kitchen
Also i hope im not the only one that have a mild panic moment when my pup doesn't do something she always do at a specifik moment? Like if she doesn't took a dump in the morning that i instantly think "oh crap(pun intended) ma baby is sick"

Is it ok to move my puppies crate during the day
Our puppy crate is currently in our living room downstairs and she is taking to it quite well now, a coworker mentioned how they have their dog crate in their office during the day so the puppy can sit in it while they work. Is it ok to move my puppy crate upstairs into my office to work or do we risk making her not want to go near her crate?
