Crating Advice for Puppy

(I am pro crate training and won’t change my mind so please no anti crate discourse)

The issue I am having is I need advice to see if I am doing right by my dog.

I have fully crate trained my puppy (7 months old) with no potty accidents and goes into crate with no issue (even chooses to on his own). He is not able to roam the house because I have cats that we are in the process of introducing to the dog, he is not potty trained fully, and he is in his teething/chew everything phase. My issue is that he is in a large (fits 2 of him) crate for the majority of the day. He is crated through the night (abt 6-8 hrs max) and is kept in the crate throughout the day. He stays 2 hours in the crate then I take him out for an hour to train, play, and potty then back in for 2 hours. Rinse, repeat. I stay out and play until he is tired and ready to go in on his own. My question is that is this an okay routine? He has not shown any issue to it but I do feel bad as I don’t let him roam my house like a normal dog. He has plenty of toys, chews, and puzzles to keep him company and like to watch the cats from inside the cage. We also go on walks daily and he goes with me to any pet friendly place to become socialized. This is in addition to his every 2 hour break. If this seems wrong, any ideas on how to improve this routine while I am house training and introducing cats? Thanks so much!
