My 1.5y poodle recently started a behavior where he doesn't want to go outside to go to the bathroom. It doesn't matter where we are but unless he's at emergency level he tries to hide from us when it's time to go out and then pulls back to the door until we're away from it before giving up. When he started it he also had giardia so we assumed there was discomfort he was trying to avoid. But since then he's gotten a clean bill of health from the vet, his poops are normal, his glands are fine, and he's eating and playing like normal. But it's been weeks and he still he doesn't want to go outside to potty. He doesn't go in the house either, he just holds it until we make him go out.
I've read that this can be caused by health issues or a fear response. We've tried different locations and it doesn't make a difference. He's happy to go other places with us and to go hiking, it's just potty walks that he doesn't want to do. Any ideas on what is going on? Should we bring him back to the vet?
