Up until a week ago, our 22 weeks old PWD pup mostly went outside to potty through a door to the backyard that was always open. He had the run of garage with a door to outside. I know, it was bad judgement on my part. I did not know how important it was to potty train him using the crate.
Starting last week I closed the door to properly toilet train him. After contemplation, I decided to try a pen first instead of a crate. This is because we have not been crating him during the day. He has been sleeping well in the crate at night. We don't want him to hate the crate.
However, he did have an incident over the weekend after we made the pen area a little bigger by attaching a crate to it. So our trainer suggested to put him in a crate instead of the pen. We tried that for a couple of days and it's been difficult. He did not like being in the crate and did not sleep much. So I am thinking of putting him back in the pen.
Any suggestions or ideas? Thank you so much!
