Is it normal for my puppy to be obsessed with my older dog?
My puppy is 10 weeks, been home for two weeks now and he follows my 9 year old female dog around constantly. Puppy is so fixated on her, she has to correct him to get him to leave her alone sometimes but other times she’s okay to zoomie around and be frisky with him. I believe she has good boundaries and enough space created that she is not getting overwhelmed with his constant attention (her comfort is definitely a priority for me).
I worry if my puppy follows around my adult dog constantly is it a detriment to his training? For example: he will only walk on a leash if he can see her walking ahead with my spouse to follow. If they aren’t walking, he’ll plunk his butt down and won’t move.
Would love to hear any success or otherwise constructive stories about anyone introducing their puppy to their older dog. Do things get better in the later adolescent stages?
