Puppy wont go biz on walks

Hi. We got a new female puppy a couple of weeks ago and she was pretty sick and not potty trained. We were able to mostly get her to do her business in the yard but I can’t get her to go outside on walks. I tried waiting till she had been crated do a long time and the best I can get is a pee by the road. I fed her tonight and waited a bit and took her on a super long walk and she waited till we got home to pee in the yard. Any suggestions ??
