So we have two 6 month old lab puppies and for all things considered they’re fairly well behaved and we put in what I would say a good amount of time training them. We live in an apartment complex on the 2nd floor so the walk to the bathroom is not short but also not super long.
Puppy 1: Basically fully potty trained, has accidents here and there but more times than not cries at the door to warn us she has to go before the accident (she has this thing where she will pee once and then come back in and ask to go back out and pee again and no it’s not a UTI).
Puppy 2: She’s struggling a little more with potty training, we give her treats and celebrate everytime she goes outside for pee and poop. Overall she continues to improve but one habit I cannot break is when I go to take her out in the morning after sleeping through the night. We will wake up and have breakfast before going out which at this point has been anywhere from 6-8 hours since her last time going out the night before. The issue is as we start to walk and we get to the stairs she starts to pee at the top of the steps every single time to where I interrupt her and she finishes outside. I have wiped down and sprayed these spots with the product that will remove the odors so she doesn’t think it’s okay. I have also tried different staircases (3 different ones) across our complex to slightly alter the routine. But no success, do I just continue to interrupt her and reward her when she finishes outside hoping this will change?
Taking any tips!
