Got our puppy Max at 7 weeks—he’s a golden retriever and honestly a very quick learner. We don’t have a backyard, just a small glass balcony, so we had to figure something out for potty training right away.
What worked for us was super simple: we put a diaper sheet out on the balcony and every time after he ate, drank water, woke up, or finished playing, I’d just pick him up and take him there. Did this consistently for like 2–3 days.
At first, yeah, accidents happened (and they still do sometimes—he’s only 8 weeks), but pretty quickly he started recognizing the spot. Now when he needs to go, he actually runs toward the balcony/diaper sheet on his own, which still surprises me 😅
It’s not perfect, but it’s been really practical for us, especially without a yard. And it’s easy to clean, so that helps a lot too.
