We had our 5.5 month old labrador retriever puppy out for a walk at the park. He likes to retrieve a ball or bumper a couple of times but loses interest after that, and I know it can he hard on their joints stopping so we don't push it. His usual routine is a few short walks a day, 3 or so longer "hikes" a week at his own pace with lots of time to explore and sniff, and retrieve and tug.
We tried out a frisbee today and he probably did 4 or so retrieves but maybe a little further than usual and more enthusiastically on his end. He now seems really tired and maybe a bit sore. We'll take a break on the frisbee for sure and probably ball now since it seems to be too much for him. Has anyone ran into this? Any way to support him other than rest? Would this cause any longer term joint issues?
