Rave your best hair removers and shedding brushes

Looking for recommendations of the best hair removing tools for long dog hair from closing/furniture etc… as well as looking for tips for grooming:

First time having a long haired, double coated dog, and dealing with his first spring shed and oh my god I wasn’t ready for the amount of hair he sheds. I brushed him about twice a week and it’s still endless.

Today I had to give him a big shower after a muddy hike and found that I was able to brush out even more of his fur when he was semi-dry (is that a common short cut to help?). Should I be brushing him out after everytime he goes for a swim or gets bathed?
