Hello all! I have a 13 week old mini Aussie who I LOVE so much. I actually made a post in here a few weeks ago about how hard it was going around the 9 week mark, but honestly he’s been great as each week passes and I feel so much better!
Anyways, I’m a stay at home “dog mom” lol. So my puppy, Duncan, is with me for 10-12 hours a day until my husband comes home, then he’s with my husband and I for 4-5 more hours before he goes to bed. So he’s essentially ALWAYS with me and my husband, but mostly me. I’ve done all the training, potty training, feedings, socialization, crate training, playing, and I LOVE every minute of it! He was my wedding present after all lol.
But, I’m worried that since he’s with me all the time, he’s developing some form of anxiety. If I leave the room, he goes ballistic. If I leave him with my husband, he goes ballistic. He doesn’t have to SEE me while he’s in the crate, but if he can’t sense me in the room anymore, he goes ballistic. He goes absolutely INSANE if I leave him outside alone with the other dogs and I’m not there. He has to constantly sense me or see me. He won’t settle alone with my husband or my mom. He’s only able to settle when he’s with me. I don’t know if this is normal or not. He doesn’t destroy anything thank goodness, but he throws himself against the door and just screams when I’m not near him.
I don’t really know what to do at this point. He’s very smart. Knows all his commands, hasn’t had an accident in the house in 2 weeks, doesn’t chew on my items. He’s just very nervous without me and I don’t know how to get that out of him before he gets too old!
