Why do dogs take their heads out of the car but get angry if you blow on them?

It seems contradictory, but perhaps it has an explanation.

Perhaps, when the dog sticks its head out, the wind feels natural and allows it to smell or cool down. Instead, direct blowing in the face may be perceived as a threat or invasion of your personal space. What do you think, maybe it could it be something else?
