What is the right time to get a puppy?

Me and my brother recently decided that we want to get a dog, but everyone is telling us that this is not a right time and that it’s too big of a responsibility. We have a unique work schedule, we work for 7 days and then have 7 days off. And we don’t have same shifts during work days so the dog wouldn’t be alone for more then 6 hours, maybe 8 sometimes but that’s the maximum. During the week off we often go to the countryside and if we are in a city we walk a lot and obviously have a lot of free time. But people keep saying our lifestyle is too busy for a dog. Then I wondered how do people with 9-5 manage?

Also what scares me is what if I change a job in like a year? I’m still young and my career is my priority obviously. Same for my brother. But no one can know where they will be in 2-5-10 years from now… Also we have enough money so vets, treats, toys and everything else won’t effect our budget.

We also plan to pay for police like training, even though we don’t want our dog to be “scary” or dangerous. We just want to work with it and have it well behaved.

Also we have our parents house If we ever go to a vacation and can’t bring the dog with us, they also have a dog so ours will have a company!

So any tips would be greatly appreciated🙏🏻
