Want to adopt a dog but need advice….

Debating on getting/adopting a dog. I really want one, my kids really want one, my husband does too but is worried about the logistics of it all. We both work full time, I work outside the home 5 days a week, but I work close to home, so I could go home to walk the dog, but is that enough? One walking break? I would do a morning walk, afternoon walk sometime btween 12-1 and then when we get home 515. My husband is remote 2/5 days, so he would be able to take the dog on more walks when he is home and then there are the weekends.

We don't go many places, we take one annual vacation a year – which we would have to look into a dog sitter or boarding, we have options. But I am more worried about not being able to walk the dog more than once on the 3 days I am in the office. My husband is also worried about working from home with a dog, "they bark"! And he is on the phone, zoom calls, what do remote workers do that have dogs? Maybe I am overthinking this. I've had a dog before but its been awhile, and it was a different life then, no kids, not working full time, I mean my Daisy was with me all the time, and she wasn't a barker unless she was home alone! (separation anxiety…yes yes) Another thing, my husband is not 100% on board with getting a dog, but if he did he would want to get a puppy vs adopting a dog that is a year or older because he is worried about the dog having a bad history, or set in their ways (Daisy, my jack russell, she was a handful, I adopted her at 9mos). He thinks getting a puppy and training from day one is better than adopting. Whereas I feel like we should adopt, there are so many dogs that need a home and can be trained.

Thoughts? Advice?
