Hello! My boyfriend and I bought a house some time ago and we've decided that in a few months (next spring) we're going to adopt a dog. In the meantime, we're trying to learn everything we can so that the puppy's acclimatization will be easier when the time comes. I have a few questions that you might be able to answer, namely: - Although we want him to roam freely throughout the house in the future, we think it would be better to limit his access to just one room. My first question is: I've read that it's not advisable to have the dog's bed and food and water bowls in the same place as the potty pad... as it can confuse the dog... Do you think there's a problem with placing the bed at one end of the room along with the water and food bowls, and the potty pad near the door? - Then, I'm thinking of restricting him only when we're not home, and then when we are home, working from home or at the end of the day, he can be more comfortable, and we would try to figure out when he needs to go to the bathroom and take him outside. - In the room where we want to restrict him, we were thinking of either the balcony or the kitchen. The kitchen is about 9.6 square meters, but it has cabinets and storage spaces that could take up some space. The balcony is 6.25 square meters and could create a space just for him in the initial stages. Do you think any of these practices don't make sense or are wrong? How did you do ii?
