I have to leave Canada and move back to the Philippines. I'm happy and able to do everything I can to make it comfy for my dog but even if it's feasible, it doesn't always mean it'll be the healthiest or most comfortable as the climate is such a stark difference.
The temperature is 95-120F (35-50C) year round in the Philippines. The lowest it gets is 77F but the environment has gotten hotter in recent years. Climate is only ever sun or rain, with rainy season still at 77-80s from what I remember and what family has told me.
I really do want to give this some thought because she grew up with all 4 seasons in Canada, swimming in glacier lakes and rivers or the cold ocean, and it's a choice between her being separated from me forever or being in the heat forever.
If I bring her to the Philippines, I will be in the capital which is a bigger city than any place she has ever lived in and with less access to nature. The plan is to provide her with AC all day in one to two rooms, a kiddie pool, walk her early mornings (4-5am) and late evenings, do mental stimulation 1-2x per day, and provide weekly swims through indoor dog pools. I think the beaches would be too hot for her and even then, would need a 3-4 hour drive.
I asked in a Newfie group on Facebook and everyone said to keep her because it'll be harder for them to lose family. At the same time, those who have suggested that I bring her as their Newfies live with them in hot states still have that reprieve of cooler seasons.
I understand it's sad to lose each other but she's my soul dog and I would rather she has the best life and I don't want to assume that that automatically means it's with me. I've been having a hard time with this decision because she's my everything but I don't want to be selfish and I want what's best for her.
Does anyone have advice or thoughts?
