To bury or receive ashes?

I adopted Essie when she was 6 weeks old. She grew up to be a big girl at 75ish pounds. She turned 12 recently and while still doing pretty well I can see her slowing down… I think she may have 1-2 years left.

I own my house so I can bury her in the back yard as long as it’s not during winter when the ground is frozen.

Looking for advice from people that have done this. If you were happy or unhappy with your decision I would really appreciate if you could explained why you felt that way. I wished dogs lived longer.
