There’s no joy in owning a puppy. It’s just work.

I got a puppy and I'm almost 3 weeks with him, and tbh, the honeymoon phase seems to be over. (He's 4 months)

I'm just monitoring him 24/7. He doesn't listen to me. He still has accidents and is not potty trained despite constant training. Outside he eats poop, is easily distracted by anything and does not listen. He's not even cute anymore (lost all his fluff) and looks very asymetrical.

There's just no joy. Even during playtime he just smells my crotch, he bites, he licks everything. He acts starved and is licking anything he can find on the floor including dust balls or hairs.

He doesn't care when I call him. And he approaches me he prefers to smell the stuff around me or the floor rather than give me any attention. This feels like adopting a randome teenager that doesn't give anything in return.

Is a happy era ever coming? There's just no payoff.
