I think I’m in a bit of a bind, I am buying a new puppy from a breeder and she’ll be ready to take home on the 8th of December. But I am meant to be travelling a to stay at my family home for Christmas, on the 20th of December, returning home on the 30th of December.
My initial instinct was to collect the puppy on the 30th when I return, and the breeder was happily to keep the puppy until then. My family (who currently have one dog and have raised several) keep telling me I shouldn’t leave the dog with the breeder for three weeks and should instead bring her to family Christmas.
My concern is confusing and stressing the puppy, spending 10 days in my house then spending 10 days in another house, where a lot of people will be coming and going to visit, it doesn’t feel like a wise thing to do. I would rather wait until I can dedicate all of my time in a calm environment.
What are people’s opinions? Should I leave the dog with the breeder for three weeks take her to family Christmas?
