I have a one year old lab, terrier husky cross. I made a post two weeks ago sharing how far my puppy has come, but soon after I posted we had quite the regression with demand barking. I was feeling pretty dumb about touting my success lol.
So I kept reading and found the Karen Overall relaxation protocol. Oh my god. I could tell in the first session that this was going to help us. We are now on day 7.
Please don't get me wrong, I am all about incremental progress over long stretches of time and don't believe in those "one simple trick" ideas. Maybe there is something else at play contributing to the massive change but I am so impressed. My puppy has always been highly anxious and high strung. There are certain scenarios that will amp her up for sure still, but she used to literally be on us all the time and I could not sit on the couch without her barking at me to entertain her.
I am not saying it'll work for you but it's very simple, and explicitly written with all guess work taken out, so it is worth a try! My guess is you'll know when you try it if it's going to help you or not. I hope someone tries this and it helps them. For the last week I feel like I can be myself at home and relax, and the dog is comfortable just chilling. I am so dang relieved.
