We’ve had our 19 week miniature dachshund for about 10 weeks now, within days of collecting her she was sleeping through the night in her crate downstairs from 10pm to 6:30/7am – this lasted a good 6 weeks and we really thought we’d cracked it!
Neither of us like to wake early, so it was a bit annoying that she would wake at 6am, then go back to sleep in her crate for an hour, wake up, then nap on the sofa – so we started bringing her up to bed after her 6:30 wake up so she sleeps through until around 8:30. This was fine for about a week until my partner had to get up for work at 4am 3 days in a row, ever since then she has been waking up at at random times between 3-5:30 and barking to be let out😭
For the first week, she would protest going back in her crate, however we stuck to a strict routine and she settles as soon as we’ve taken her to the toilet (she does always go), we do no speaking, no fuss etc. We’ve been solid with this for a couple of weeks now, but she is still waking us up throughout the night 80% of the time – we’re both sleep deprived and it’s frustrating as I know she can sleep through the night without needing to go to the toilet!!!!
We have noticed her teeth are falling out/growing in and I’m aware she may be uncomfortable due to this – but has anyone experienced the same? Have we really messed up by letting her come to bed at 6:30 or is this typical sleep regression?😞
Sincerely, a tired dog mum who has been up since 5am hahaha
