I've had my sweet pup 2 weeks today and ngl for the most part, its been okay enough but all of a sudden it seems that sleeping is a distant memory, so like 2/3 mornings ago, I had slept really poorly so decided to let pup in bed with me from like 7-8:30AM to cuddle. Unsure if this was the cause but since then he has refused to sleep in his crate.
He's got a soft travel crate set up in my bed, he started off sleeping next to my head, moved him to the foot of the bed, with the plan to slowly phase him into the living room (where he will sleep long term where he chooses, generally a warmer cosier room, my bed is very high up off the ground so don't feel confident about letting him free in it without strict observation, nowhere to fit a ramp.)
I just don't understand why we're going backwards, he's never cried in his travel crate unless needing toilet etc but I just don't know if I let him cry it out, I don't want him getting used to the bed either as its not a long term solution. I also live alone so its not like I can swap out, its just me and the pup.
He doesn't like his living room crate (working on this slowly) and its also not a solution to leave him in his pen as he does have separation anxiety and I have caught him escaping his pen so don't want him wandering around at night either.
Any advice appreciated 🙂
