Sharplaninac

Hello everyone, I've searched around but I couldn't find much about these dogs on Reddit, so I am writing this post.

I've lost my dog this year and have since started working at a dog shelter, conveniently πŸ˜… I was so confident I will not fall in love but I have. The dog I am most fond of and am very tempted to adopt is a Sharplaninac/Yugoslavian Shepherd dog mix, he might have some Caucasian Shepherd in him, we don't know for sure.

He is very calm and big. He is about two years old. Please if anyone has experience, feel free to share. I am most interested in any "downsides" of this dog, would he be fit to live in an apartment (I know many feel like big dogs shouldn't live in apartments but he will be better off than in a shelter that's for sure), do they have any destructive behaviour… I know they can be bad with other dogs and that they are stubborn, but other than that, I am wondering is there something I have missed and should know? I have had 2 dogs for the past 16 years so I have experience and I think we might be a good match.

He is the most depressed dog in the shelter (he was used to living freely on the garbage deponium prior to being rescued) but he is also the most easygoing when you take him out for a walk, which he adores. If you don't talk to him while you are inside, he will not move, but if you give him attention, he will follow you to the door hoping for a walk and then protest and bite the door because he wants to go out 🀣 But he is such a gentle, slow giant. Please if anyone has experience, write, I am looking forward to your responses!
