Hello wonderful puppy community, I was wondering if anyone had any advice on my below situation. Ive spent lots of time already going through and trying suggestions from similar posts but nothing has clicked.
My goldendoodle is 4 months old and we've had her for a month now. The very first night we got her, we crated her for the night, but I now think was a mistake, she sleeps with me now I'm next room over from her crate room and we've sectioned off the house with a gate.
Anyway, fast forward to today, she's a bit of a velcro pup and cries if im in the house and she cant get to me (fine if im out though and someone else is here!). What im struggling with is her naps, whenever I get up to grab something from the kitchen for example, she will follow, napping or no. As you can guess, this means she is having very interrupted sleep through the say and we dont think shes sleeping enough as we're picking up on over exhusted behaviours especially in the evening.
Ive tried crate training, shes fed in there three times a day (is very hesitant to 'come' though). We've managed 8 minutes of her in the crate with the door closed and me moving around but feeding her every few sections. However, after we crate train even if its a short time she will act like the crate is evil! I cant keep her in the sectioned off house because she will just cry and wont settle.
Sorry for such a lengthy post, but does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get her to settle and stay settled? Whether its shut in somewhere or free in the room im not too bothered, i just dont love over tired puppy!
