So my puppy is 5 months old – he’s out of both my dogs so I’ve had him since birth. He clocked on pretty well to potty training from 8 weeks and knows the command to go wee wees in the garden even when he doesn’t want to (rain 😂😅) and goes on walks.
Never toilets over night (9:30pm-6:30am) but we’ve been having an issue with him peeing inside when we go out. I’d understand if it was during long periods but sometimes it’s only 1/2 hours and we come home to a puddle in the house, always in the same bloody spot haha. I clean it well with enzymatic cleaner every time to try and get rid of any smells. Tried putting his bed there but he just peed on that instead. He’s always let out/walked just before.
He doesn’t suffer with separation anxiety and is loose with both his parents who are also calm when left (German shep, Belgian mal) doesn’t bark or show any signs of distress but I’m wondering if it could be anxiety related? How can I unlearn this behaviour as it’s happening only when I’m not present. I don’t want to put puppy pads down and reinforce it but also it’s starting to affect my stone floor so needs sorting.
